Mostly reliable, long lasting engine, vast cargo capacity
My Jeep was given to me to by uncle ten years into it's life. So my experience with the Jeep started at 215,000 miles, and frankly the car ran really well even still. The engine is solid and still kicking at 285,000 miles, but many other components on the Jeep are now failing or have failed. Bearing, transmission 2x, leaky AC, brake problems, radiator broken, power steeling problem, etc.. it's become a mess. However for how old it was, it did survive many daily drives to work unscathed. The ride is very smooth although at first it does feel like commanding a tank instead of a car. Coming from a Del Sol, it was kind of hilarious. The car is very good in poor weather, and extremely reliable when in 4x4 mode if snow is on the ground. Pretty much anything short of a blizzard the Jeep is able to handle quite well, and I always feel secure driving in the snow with it. You still have to be careful, but there's additional piece of mind in comparison to say a rear-wheel drive sports car. The car was also very useful for long trips to the mountains with many passengers, although I had to stop being able to depend on it for that purpose at some point. Handling is greatly diminished when at capacity cargo and people. All and all if you are looking for an SUV I think the Grand Cherokee is a decent car.

Fun car
I think the car has a nice look to it, while it isn't as rugged as a "Wrangler" it still has a tougher look than say the "Liberty." It has a decent amount of trunk space and both back seats fold down so you have access to that area too. I don't think it gets amazing gas mileage, but its about 17 miles to the gallon, so not terrible for an SUV. What I don't like about the car is that under the hood, they make many parts of the engine inaccessible, so if you feel like something might be wrong with it, you can't really pull over on the side of the road and just take a look.
