Speedy car for less
I got this car, because it was on a deal for the month and I have had Mazda's forever. I usually get the basic model, as cheap as I can get, but since I had a bit bigger of a budget I went with the Speed3. Boy it is worth it. It is great fun to drive, and it is pretty good on gas.

Fun to Drive, Some Concerns
I purchased this car after searching for a few years for an affordable subcompact that also didn't look like a "mom vehicle." The Mazda's styling is a nice blend between fierce and smooth, and has the handling to go with it. There is a noticeable difference in handling between the lower models and the Touring/Grand Touring models, which is made even more apparent with a good set of tires. For the price point, the Mazda gives quite a bit of bang for your buck. The interior is comfortable and simple, though the backseat really isn't meant for tall people or constantly carpooling. It handles well, still is catchy (at least, in certain colors), and is still regarded as a good purchase amongst the economy subcompact class. My biggest issues are with the gas mileage, which is abysmal for a car this size. It definitely should be better, but even with conservative driving leaves much to be desired. Mazda paint is notoriously soft and thin, and my car already has had paint issues, the first being when it was only 3 years. It had to be resprayed, but I question the quality and longevity of the paint used. The front power windows also failed after 4 years, and has caused me not to use the sunroof in hopes of avoiding a similar fate as the front windows. All in all, it is a fun, comfortable car to drive for the price point. I do wish Mazda gave more options, for example, no power windows or no sun roof, because I would love to have a car with the handling of the Touring/Grand Touring models without all the unnecessary mechanical "amenities".

good deal
This is a very nice car with a very reasonable price. The car's silhouette is very pleasing to the eye. It has a six-speed manual transmission that feels very exact and satisfying. It has great acceleration and a sporty feel. It feels stable and responsive. It has two USB slots and a "cigarette lighter" charging slot, which all come in handy. When driving on a highway there is some outside noise but that can be drowned out by increasing the radio/CD volume. The doors/trunk don't close as easily and smoothly as I would have liked, but require a bit of force. For highway driving, the gas mileage is pretty good; less so for in-town driving. The engine feels powerful and looks well-organized when you open the hood. Breaks work great. On very hot days the AC takes a little while to kick in, but once it does it works great.
