Great commuter car
I love my Nissan Leaf for the commuter lifestyle. I drive under 25 miles per day back and forth to work. My employer provides me with a parking space with a car charger for free. So, I drive to work and hook up my car for the day and charge it there for free. The maximum miles that I can drive on one charge is 70 miles. The interior has heated seats (not as an option but standard). My iPhone connects directly to the radio through Bluetooth. I can answer calls right from the steering wheel. In economy mode, I can get more mileage out of the battery. But in economy mode, there is no stepping on the gas pedal to merge into traffic. You have to think about it. Outside of economy mode, this car is zippy. The cost for 1,000 miles is about $20, if I have to pay for the electric. My cost per kilowatt hour is 0.08 cents so your cost for miles might vary. One big disadvantage is that I have to think about where I am going and where the charging stations are if I want to go all over town during the day or if I want to drive somewhere that is a distance.

Nissan Leaf - best little hatchback I've ever had
I've had my Leaf for about three years and am ready to lease the newer model to replace it. The 2016 Leaf is a fully electrical vehicle and has a limited range of about 85 miles, which is plenty for local commute, shopping and running errands. It is great for shopping as it has lots of room behind the front bucket seats when the rear seats are folded down. Two things I enjoy most about my Leaf are never having to visit gas stations and great acceleration typical of EVs. To charge it, I just plug it in the regular 115 V outlet over night when the electricity rates are the lowest, and it's ready to go next morning. Very economical and convenient. And no need to ever smell gasoline or your own exhaust. The Leaf is well designed and many controls are the same as in gas-powered Nissans. For example, the cruise control and windshield vipers are the same as in several rental Nissans (like Altima, e.g.) I've used in the past. The greatest, and I'd say only disappointment is the limited life of the tires. Apparently, the weight of the battery overloads the tires and reduces their useful life compared to ICE cars.
