2008 BMW 3 Series - Nice car but it has had issues

I have always wanted to own a BMW after having many friends in my life who have owned them. While I have enjoyed the vehicle for the most part, I have not been impressed with the build quality of mine. There is no doubt that BMWs really are fine driving machines and this car, while a modest model in the line, has lived up to that notion. The inline six cylinder engine is renowned for its smooth power curve which has that dash of extra power to really cut loose when needed. Smooth as butter as they say. The combination auto/manual transmission is silky smooth with shifts at all the right spots. Lastly, this car has the looks and style that for this particular year's model will in my mind become classic.
Story
Having come from owning several, large SUVs it's been hard to use my car to move and haul things that were day to day items previously to me. Tying a roll of carpet and new outdoor lounge chairs to the roof were not moments I have been proud of. And I must confess to hauling large containers in the trunk and back seat filled with mulch from my local recycling center.
Pros
Performance is top shelf for this model with as stated above, the classic six cylinder engine with combination transmission. Driver layout and comfort are perfect for me at my size. I love being able to sit way back and low and still have the perfect view of all around me. The interior components of wood and leather along with deep, heated power seats are truly luxurious. When I am behind the wheel of this car, I do feel the elegance as well as the sportiness and performance of the BMW line.
Cons
What has been a disappointment to me is the quality of the build and particular components. This car has been plagued with numerous mechanical issues from the fifty thousand mile mark on. Leaks in the AC system where a nearly entirely new system had to be installed. Numerous leaking engine coils which have added up to big dollar repairs. The radiator had to be replace prematurely and oil leaks have been a constant worry and painfully drawn out process to locate and repair.

2004 BMW 3 Series - Great car.

I have owned my 2004 BMW 330ci for just over one year. In that time, it has performed very well. I bought it for about $8,000 with 79,000 miles. The interior was in very good condition and has aged remarkably well given the age of the car. All of the electronics work well, and the stereo sounds very good. The ride quality is firm but forgiving and offers excellent feedback through the steering wheel, offering good road feel. The engine is a little slow under 3,500 rpm but pulls very hard after 3,500 through about 6,200 rpm. The exhaust note is also quite pleasing once higher in the rev range. It is comfortable when it needs to be but sporty and agile when the road or conditions demand it. One thing I do not care for is the fuel economy. I average roughly 18 miles to the gallon. In my p... Story
One memorable experience was bringing my car to the shore on a sunny day with friends. Since it is a convertible, it was nice to drive around the shore town with the top down.
Pros
The power is good; it feels very fast. It's very narrow, so I can fit into tight parking spaces easily. The ride is comfortable. The stereo sounds great. The steering feel is rewarding.
Cons
The visibility is quite poor since the rear window is so small, and there is large blind spot in the side mirrors. Mediocre fuel economy.

Family is a long time buyer. We always go to the same seller at the dealership who gives us great service. Although, this is our last BMW our family will be purchasing (run-flat tires are expensive and a scam!), I'd recommend this dealership to anyone who is set on buying themselves a BMW. The company (BMW) itself could not hold a 20+ year customer anymore with the bad customer service in most of their dealerships around the country, however this place stands out as top notch.

Excellent service department with a pleasant staff. Outstanding first rate facilities that provide outstanding amenities and comfort, equipped with food, TVs, and computers. Knowledgeable sales staff that keeps you up to date on the latest models on the lot, and doesn't come off as pushy. Great loaner car program. Tremendous selection of certified pre-owned vehicles. Clean environment. First rate experience.
