2007 BMW 3 Series - Reliable car with plenty of room

My vehicle is nothing fancy but perfectly functional, with plenty of room and gives a smooth, reliable ride. There have been a few repairs that have needed to be made, but after 8 years, I have more than 170K miles on the vehicle and for the mileage driven, the maintenance and repair costs have been low. A few recalls have also been announced, but Toyota has always provided very good service in getting those repair and I never had issues with the recall issue. Overall, the car is attractive in design, with plenty of space inside (leg room) and in the trunk. It rides smooth and runs quietly and over the years has needed fewer the average repairs (in my opinion/experience).
Story
My friends and I have taken the vehicle on many a road trip - from Northern Virginia, we have traveled to central and western Pennsylvania, Nashville, Tennessee and to the Outer Banks, North Carolina.
Pros
The amount of room within the vehicle is always commented on positively by passengers. I enjoy driving the vehicle - the seat is comfortable and the control and ride is very smooth. The speaker system, radio and 6 disk CD changer is great. No major issues with the vehicle outside of regular, to-be-expected maintenance items (with the exception of leaky struts).
Cons
One of my least favorite things about the car is the lack of rear vents, so during very hot and very cold days, the front vents must provide heat and AC to the entire car, which doesn't much affect the driver but can affect the comfort of passengers in the back seat. Also, the struts of the vehicle are leaky - I've been told that by several mechanics. Perhaps because of the struts or for other reasons, the vehicle eats oil quickly - I usually have to add at least 2 quarts of oil between oil changes (I change the oil every 5K miles).

There is a reason they call it the "Ultimate Driving Machine." This BMW has been nothing short of just that: ultimate. I've driven it well into the 80,000 mile range, and there is not a single problem with the car. I haven't had any electronic issues nor defects within the interior or exterior of the car. Other than routine and preventative maintenance, there's not much to complain about. It's truly one of the most reliable and fun cars I've ever owned.
Story
I've traveled all over the United States with this car, and I just simply recall the constant change of scenario. One week I'd be cruising across the plains of Iowa with nothing but miles ahead of me. Other times I'd be ripping through a canyon and pushing the car to its limits. Regardless of where I've been, the common variable is that I've been able to get there because of this car, and for ... (more)
Pros
My favorite features of this car are definitely the sport mode capability and the suspension. Never have I ever been more calm and comfortable while taking turns at higher speeds. You feel planted to the ground, and the car goes exactly where you want it to. My favorite aspect, hands down, is that it is practical for everyday driving, but if you want to get on it, it pulls like a freight train.
Cons
You buy a luxury car knowing that you're going to have higher repair costs than you would with a Honda. But that doesn't stop you. There's not much to complain about when you have a constant smile on your face when you're driving. The only one single aspect I don't particularly care for is the lousy fuel consumption. This thing goes through gas like a fraternity goes through beer!

They had the exact car that I was looking for and it wasn't quite ready to go on the lot because it needed to be cleaned/checked. The dealer let me see it and test drive it anyways and still allowed me to ultimately buy it. I love my car and it was exactly what I was looking for.

All of the employees here are really helpful, without being too pushy. I visited the dealership maybe four times before I decided to make my purchase, and each time, the dealers remembered me, and were just as helpful as before. I didn't feel pressured, rushed, or like a burden. The dealer I worked with was very knowledgeable, and helped me make the right decision.
