The oldest car in all my family, the '94 Buick Century doesn't cut any corners. Its boxy corners (inside and out), heavy build, and dignified style evoke epithets like "mobile museum" and "land barge." But I honestly have never felt safer in any other car that I've driven. The engine was always quick to start even in winter weather, a blessing I was reminded of every time I saw a Honda owner coaxing their cold ignition. The engine was not "silent" by any means, but neither was it obtrusive: just a gentle drone, with no pulsation. Gas mileage averaged a steady 20.0 Miles/gallon for a single commuter with a balance of highway, suburban and city driving. Repairs were uncommon, and I can recall only 3 part replacements in my 7 years of ownership: the alternator, the spark plugs, and the ... (more)
Story
My Grandma has an unexplained dogmatic veneration for Buicks. I rarely drove her to doctor appointments, but the last time that I did she, after a moment of riding in silence, raised her voice religiously: "Buick, best car ever made!" At that very moment the alternator died and the engine shut off, resulting in one of only three part replacements in 7 years. She hasn't said a word about Buicks... (more)
Pros
The sheer metal mass of the frame, together with airbag, made me feel very comfortable out in less-than-safe conditions. Also, the V6 engine ensured no shortage of power in a pinch, without the enormous dimensions of most 8-cylinder cars.
Cons
I do feel that the tread that came on the tires was insufficient for winter driving, but that is of course replaceable. Also, the side mirrors were unusually small, barely adequate I would say. The loose steering or wheel play was not ideal but neither was it a serious problem. I only lamented it when borrowing my parents' Honda, which has very nice, tight steering.

I really like how the car always delivers a smooth ride. It sits up off the ground well, and I always feel in control. My car is older, so it does not have many new frills such as an MP3 player, but I have had no issues with the radio/speakers. The buttons for things like window controls are easily accessible, and the dashboard readouts are clear. I have had minimal issues with the engine etc. I maintain my car fairly well and always get my oil changed in the recommended time. The gas tank is 15 gallons, and I get about 25 miles per gallon on average.
Story
I left my lights on once, and my battery got drained while I was at work at a new job. I ended up having to ask my boss for a jump. The car started right up, and the battery recharged without issue though! It was awkward and made me feel like a doofus asking for a jump, but hey, you got to do what you got to do.
Pros
It is average on gas consumption, which is not great but not bad. Predictability and consistency are good things to me. I very much enjoy the smooth ride and lack of noise from the road. The illumination of the dashboard is perfect, and the colors are pleasing. I've never had any serious maintenance issues, which means no unexpected bills for thousands of dollars. It has been a very dependable car.
Cons
My air conditioner knob stuck and broke off. This wasn't too hard or costly to get fixed, but it was annoying. The steering wheel is fairly thin. I wish it were a little thicker, but it isn't a deal breaker.

The dealership was good because they were quick and no-BS when it came to selling my car. They told me exactly what the car had and how it would function and how much they would be willing to reduce the price. It didn't feel like I was buying a car at all.

Everyone we dealt with at this dealership was very friendly and helpful. They weren't too pushy about selling anything in particular. We came to them with a few cars to look at, and they knew all about each of them.
