The vehicle is all-wheel drive, which makes it handle snowy roads very well. Gas mileage is typical of an AWD SUV - not great, but better than a large truck. There are many things that start to go with the suspension and drive train, and once they start to go, it is like dominoes falling.
Story
Headed into upper peninsula of Michigan in the wintertime, we trekked across the bridge to visit family. There was a recent snowstorm, and we were making the only tracks in the snow once we got over the bridge. It was odd to not see a bunch of other vehicles, but I had faith in our AWD Equinox that we would be fine. The sun was out, and the snow was beautiful.
Pros
All-wheel drive (AWD) works well on snowy Michigan roads. The sunroof is very enjoyable and has worked fine for 12 years now. It is a fairly comfortable ride. Heated seats are nice, especially with the leather upholstery.
Cons
Have had to replace wheel hubs repeatedly. Have had to replace the driveshaft center support multiple times and also the u-joints multiple times. Brakes have issues like binding up for no reason, even after replacing brakes and calipers. Overall, maintenance has been a small nightmare.

The Equinox is roomy and will fit a number of different items in the back without putting the seat down. I fit a tent, two sleeping bags, two folding chairs, a suitcase, and a four-wheeled cart without blocking my view or lowering the seats. When the back seats are lowered, there is even more incredible space for equipment, etc.
Story
We have taken this vehicle on many excursions. I always keep my four-wheeled cart and two folding chairs in the back of the car for either the beach or crew regattas.
Pros
I love the size. Five people can fit comfortably. It is great on gas mileage consumption, and it is a smooth ride on both highway and city streets. The Equinox is also less expensive to maintain or fix.
Cons
The smaller engine can make the car sound like it is revving the engine when going up steep hills. I would also like a hitch to be standard on smaller SUVs.

The personal attention that the salesman paid to me as a customer was supreme. He went out of his way to ensure that I was satisfied. Whenever a question came up, he went out of his way to answer it. If he did not know the answer, he would go out of his way to find out the answer for me. In addition, after the purchase, he went out of his way to make sure I was still satisfied with my purchase and to alleviate any issues that may of come up.

The representative who sold me the vehicle was very nice and straight forward. I did not feel pressured in any way about my decision. They were very generous with the trade-in value of my old vehicle . They take care of my vehicle maintenance without any hassles. When ever they have my vehicle for something like an oil change they give me a loaner car to drive around so I am not stranded. I like them enough that I've bought a second car through them.
