Chevrolet Impala Owner Ratings & Reviews

2005 Chevrolet Impala - I wish it could run for forever
I bought this car in a hurry after an accident totaled my old car and I needed transportation to work. And have not regretted it once ever since. It has a very sharp looking build to it, classy without being too ostentatious. There's nothing worse than an overly gawdy vehicle shouting the owner's status to the world. So glad I've never been that insecure. The seats are very comfortable and easy to adjust to personal preferences. I was easily able to complete a 5 hour drive to a family emergency without stopping. The interior is very roomy, with plenty of space for everything and everyone you could possibly want. Yet everything you need to access is within easy reach. I especially like the cruise control and stereo buttons on the steering wheel which makes night time highway dr... (more)
Story
Picture 3 middle-aged ladies, one the teacher, two students, on a day-long extreme couponing learning journey. One goal, finding as much free or nearly free stuff as we could using coupons. Now picture trips from store to store to store, purchasing for free packs upon packs of toilet paper, paper towels, water bottles, jugs of laundry soap, from dozens of stores in half a dozen towns to avoi... Pros
Roomy interior, roomy trunk, handles like a charm, able to make sharp turns to make parking easier, easy to find controls, great gas mileage, power seats, mid-sized car but doesn't feel like it, feels like you're driving a much smaller car, maintenance is easy and parts are much cheaper than other cars I've owned. I've even been able to change my own lights saving a little bit of money that way. Traction control and smooth handling make winter driving a breeze.
Cons
While the trunk is very roomy and that's very nice, it's impossible to reach the very back of it without climbing inside. When grocery shopping, it's best to put your large packs of toilet paper and such in the very back to avoid lost cans and apples. I once had a jar of spaghetti sauce lost beyond my reach for a month until my son visited me, and even at his height of 6 feet he had to lean way in to reach. Great mileage on the highway, but not so great on country hills. Likes to bog down climbing hills, especially with 3 or 4 hefty adults in it.
2003 Chevrolet Impala - Hit and miss
I don't know if I am qualified to give a review of this vehicle, as I am not a savvy car owner. It has been very hit and miss for me with my 2003 Chevrolet Impala. I purchased this car in 2013.
Story
I used to live within driving distance of Deception Pass in Washington, and I would drive my Impala over the pass several times a week to go hiking. It was gorgeous!
Pros
This vehicle has taken me on 11 hours drives to Memphis and five-day drive across the country from North Carolina to Washington. It's huge, with enough room inside for five adults and a seriously spacious trunk. I think my favorite thing is the amount of furniture I can fit in the trunk — I've moved four times in the past three years, and this car has made it easy. It's not a "fancy" car, so I don't worry about it getting broken into in my neighborhood, where I have to park on the street. It didn't really start breaking down until I drove it across the country, and it's a 15 year old c... (more)
Cons
Since then, my radiator pipe cracked, the transmission started leaking, and the coolant is leaking terribly (going through a $10 jug of coolant a week, and I drive 10 miles/day). I had to replace my ignition switch, the sunroof stopped opening, and had a terrible leak in the passenger side floor (very common with Impalas and was a $10 fix). In general, it just leaves me feeling depressed. If you have enough money to keep up maintenance for this vehicle, it might be a good choice. Every time I go to a mechanic, I am quoted more to fix my vehicle than I paid for it, so I don't drive anywhe... (more)
