ECM programs cannot be repaired.
This car has been horrible. First my brake lights would reverse, meaning when I wasn't braking they would be on and when I was they would turn off! Huge safety issue. Then the ECM started going crazy. I took it to several repair shops and no one has been able to repair it. It randomly throws up codes, won't shift out of first, won't start, and my speedometer starts flipping out. Now it is doing this new thing where it reads that it is -17 degrees outside (in July in Tennessee). Since the car thinks it's -17, my air conditioner won't cool. I've replaced so many parts hoping to fix the issue to no avail. I'm disappointed because I've researched online where so many people are having this same problem. Chevy refuses to address the situation. Now, the car is making a loud, alarming sound when I start it, it won't go out of first anyway, so it's basically useless. I've pour all this money into a car that is unfix-able. I would never recommend this car, or even another Chevy, to anyone. There has just been too many issues swept under the rug and not addressed. I would give the Chevy Malibu a 0 out of 10 for reliability.

A great dependable car
This is a great dependable car for everyday commuting. This car is at 167,000 miles and still runs strong. I have had no major mechanical problems, only have had to have the oil changed and routine maintenance. I love the design and interior of this car. It has great gas mileage, around 22 MPG city and 30 highway. The leather seats are comfortable and high quality material. I get many compliments on this car, and it has been the best vehicle I have owned overall. I would recommend to people looking for a sedan for everyday commuting.
