Chevrolet Tahoe Owner Ratings & Reviews

2005 Chevrolet Tahoe - Hate it
I absolutely despise my 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe. It is by far the absolute worst vehicle I have ever owned in my entire life, and I will never own one as long as I live. I have owned the vehicle one year, and since then, I have replaced the motor, the tires, the brakes, the air conditioner, the fuel pump and many more things. It gets horrible gas mileage and is extremely difficult to clean. Oil changes cost a fortune for it because it takes so much oil and has extremely high fuel filters. It feels like you are driving a bus. The insurance on the Tahoe is very high as well, and because it's a four-wheel drive, the premiums are even higher. Oh, I forgot that the four-wheel drive goes out about every four months. It works as long as you don't need it, then it just quits. These vehicles are o... (more)
Story
Once my husband and I got stuck mud riding, and it was no big deal because we had four-wheel drive, right? No... the four-wheel drive wouldn't come on, and we were in the middle of no where, and this man walks up and asks for a cigarette. Keep in mind, we are in the middle of a clear -- cut about ten miles from any house or anything. It's 1 am, dark and he just walks up out of no where. He the... (more)
Pros
The top things about the Chevrolet Tahoe include soft seats and smooth driving. It also has a large trunk area and has the capability to pull a trailer or boat.
Cons
Everything about the Tahoe I despise. Especially the gas mileage and the transmission and motor problems.
2008 Chevrolet Tahoe - Solid
My Tahoe has been a dependable and solid vehicle during my time of ownership. It currently has over 210,000 miles and does not seem to have any major mechanical issue with the drivetrain. The interior of the vehicle has held up well, especially with three young children. None of the leather seats are torn, and the dash is immaculate with the exception of one small tear on the upper dash vinyl from sun. The vehicle has no rust even after almost ten years. The third row seats are removable to allow for a huge cargo carrying area, unlike the newer Tahoes with electronic seats. I also have a 2016 Tahoe and prefer a lot of the 2008s features over the newer model. The cargo racks are easy to use and adjustable, again unlike the newer model. The vehicle rides smooth. So far, doing my... (more)
Story
Went camping in remote location. Due to huge cargo area, I got to sleep in the vehicle comfortably while everyone else roughed it outside in the cold.
Pros
My favorite, hands down, feature of the vehicle is the amount of cargo space with the third-row seats removed and the second row folded up. The power and handling are very good. The vehicle is built well because at ten years and over 200,000 miles, it is still going strong. The interior has upheld a lot of abuse and still is looking good except for some cosmetic issues.
Cons
The fuel mileage is not very good. After several years of ownership, degradation of fuel mileage was very noticeable. Currently gets about 14 miles to the gallon at the most. Cosmetically, many things started following coming off after about five years. The steering wheel's "black" cover over the plastic started coming off. The chrome plating on the door handles flaked off. The Chevy bowtie gold is actually a thin piece of aluminum that dropped off.
