I paid $5,000 in cash for it back in 2015, and it only had 60k miles on it. It has only recently (100k+ miles) started to over heat. After having an entirely new radiator put on ,it still over heats when the A/C is on and it is a real pain in that aspect. It has been my dream car since its release back in 2001. It has very little get up and go as a four cylinder. The over heating is the only problem we have ran into with the Cruiser. If that were fixed, then it would be a wonderful family car. I would not suggest long road trips with one because of the issues I have run into. I would buy another one, just maybe one that is in even better condition.
Story
When I first bought it I drove it up to Gatlinburg, TN for the day, which is about an hour away. Drove it on through Cades Cove and saw wildlife, and it really was one of the best times I have had up there. I was able to open the sunroof and get extra fresh air.
Pros
Cosmetically the PT Cruiser is beautifully deigned. The quality of the leather seating is something to be noted as well as the high/low heated seats. It feels like an SUV without the gas prices. That is one thing you will love. I only have to put about $10 in gas in the Cruiser a week! The room in the back is plentiful and spacious.
Cons
Overheated before 100k miles. It is not very fast. It needs to be babied—a lot of little trips to the shop. Air conditioner makes the overheating way worse. Bumper and fender is discolored.

I love the way it looks -- unlike the other cars on the road, it looks like a sweet version of a 1930s gangster car. It is eccentric in appearance like its owners. I can't believe they stopped making PT Cruisers!!!!! It is a good ride for long distances and versatile as far as seating and packing. The seats lie down if desired. Everything works, nothing has fallen off or fallen apart, and this is no longer a new car. Tell Chrysler they should continue this line of automobiles!
Story
Well, we had two PT Cruisers that looked alike, but one got involved in a shootout in front of our house, so whenever we remember this car, we remember its brother car, the one that died of bullets. That's not a fun story, but it is memorable. I am a female who wears fedoras, so one fun memory is the looks I receive when I am driving. I get long, fascinating stares, and I think it is the combi... (more)
Pros
As I said in the review, it is eccentric in appearance which has a high appeal. It is a well-made car, reasonably priced, and has an excellent endurance. Mine is technically old now and it is still a dandy car.
Cons
I have a little trouble with side and rear visibility because the seats sit low and the headrest sits high.
