I bought this car because it was fairly affordable: around $10,000 when I bought it in 2010. It has since depreciated to a value of about $2,500. I like the style of the car; it looks like a 1940s mobster car. A+ for style. The interior is nice, too and it has lots of what they used to call "cigarette lighters" - places to plug in and charge gadgets. Tons of interior space. Okay fuel efficiency. Unfortunately, driving it has not been a treat. It has been in the shop almost as much as it has been on the road. There is a design flaw that causes the car to overheat and many PT Cruiser owners have experienced this (2005 and later; I hear that the earlier ones were better built). I have had every component of the thermostat/cooling system replaced multiple times, but the car still tends to ... (more)
Story
I seem to get pulled over a lot in this vehicle by the Nashville cops. It's certainly a highly visible/distinctive vehicle.
Pros
My favorite thing about the vehicle is its style. It is a super-cute car and fun to drive for that reason. The interior is also nice, with a good mix of retro-looking features (like an analog dashboard clock) and modern elements as well. The car also has a lot of interior space. One reason I bought it was to carry stuff to set up at craft fairs. You can haul a lot inside this car.
Cons
The biggest negatives are that there are design flaws that doom this car to live in the shop. If you shop for a used PT Cruiser, you will see that there are a lot of low mileage PT Cruisers available for cheap. Don't be fooled into thinking these are a good deal. They are low mileage because they were always broken down or in the shop. In a PT Cruiser, every mile is hard fought.

2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser - Decent car with a vintage look.

The Chrysler PT Cruiser is a car that resembles a much older model in body style, yet features contemporary accessories that bring it into the modern day. The car has a good balance of handling and control, and features conveniences such as a CD player and heating/cooling. The frame is well built and is able to handle minor collisions without much of a dent.
Story
One year when it had snowed, our vehicle was stuck in the driveway and we used the floor mats to try and get the wheels some extra traction.
Pros
The car handles well and has a durable design. There is good gas mileage and the car is easy to clean due to its curvy body shape. The air conditioner works well when it is actually working and the CD player does not skip when hitting bumps. The car handles shock well and does not bounce when running over bumps.
Cons
The vehicle tends to break down more easily than other models. There have also been numerous times when the air conditioner would stop working and require service. The car also suffers from poor traction when caught in the snow.

This dealership doesn't play games. The price on the sticker is the price you pay. They also paid a fair price for my trade-in.
