The vehicle is very nice. It drives very smoothly and handles well. The steering is easy and responsive. Living on a hill can be tough during the winter, but the 4wd works great and allows for easy maneuvering during the winter season. It is great because it can handle any road condition. If it is snowy, or raining, or hailing, this beast can handle it. The top of the vehicle is also very helpful. During the Christmas season, it was used to hold the tree and did an excellent job of it. Using just two ropes, it could be secured to the roof and held in place for a 5+ mile drive. The inside of the vehicle is very comfortable as well. The seats can be adjusted easily, and the back seats can be put down as to allow more room in the back of the car. It was used to transport wood and did a very nice job. The suspension is very nice as well. While driving on back roads and up bumpy hills, the vehicle still felt smooth. The speaker system was clean and the radio was good too. One final note, the engine is still running good after years of use, and there has been no failure in it whatsoever. Great vehicle all around.

Great car when not fixing something.
We bought the 2005 GMC used in 2011. We had problems with it from the beginning, fuel gage not working, many electrical problems, it seemed like there was always something which needed to be fixed. Once we got it going, something else would break on it. Thankfully, my husband can fix cars as he was always working on this one. We finally got it in a reliable driving state in 2013. Just recently, the rack and pinion went, so that's on the future list.
GREAT car in the winter though! Especially for a Florida girl and her first winter in Maine, learning how to drive in snow this car helped in confidence.

We were driving a 91 Ford Ranger with 369,000 miles on it when we purchased our '98 GMC Envoy 6 years ago. We were open to pretty much any make/model, but living in the mountains, preferred a 4wd. We were giving up for the day when we happened past a used car lot, we saw the Envoy & another vehicle we both liked. So we wheeled in & looked at it. When I told our son who is a mechanic about the car & the price he said to buy it. It has been one of the best vehicles I have ever owned! The 4wd is indispensable, it has heated seats (which I adore in the winter or when my back hurts), it is a 6 cylinder, thus the gas mileage is better & to top it off, it has a BOSE stereo system that just blows everyone else away. That is a trademark of the GMC's, most all their SUV's have the BOSE system. It has a huge cargo area, for a smaller SUV; it also has a cargo cover so nobody can look in & see what you are carrying in the back of your vehicle . I find this to be a plus when doing things such as Christmas shopping or on a road trip. Over the years we have put a few thousand dollars in it to bring it back up to snuff. This vehicle has nearly 200,000 miles on it as we speak & I am in no way thinking about getting rid of it.
