Very satisfied
I actually bought a 2006 Dodge Durango brand new off of a dealership parking lot. I have been very satisfied with it. It just rolled over 100,000 miles and I haven't had any mechanical trouble to speak of (knock on wood). I would be happy to purchase another one. I love the make and model of this one.

A big maintenance pain
This is the second Dodge Durango that I have owned, and it is the second one that has had transmission problems. It can be a bit finicky while trying to switch gears. Also, the breaks have had constant problems with squeaking that I've never been able to get fixed at the shop. The bumpers are made of tissue paper, and it rusts horribly. Overall, what I paid for it is fair considering the use that I've gotten out of it. The trunk is spacious when the far back seats are folded down, and it fits a good amount. It is also a good option for towing capacity and seating a fair number of people. As a commuter vehicle, I wouldn't recommend it because the gas mileage is so poor. I get maybe 14 mpg combined highway/city. For a fourteen-year-old car, it's still driving well. So I can't complain too much, and I've never had a problem with it turning over during the winter, which was a problem I had with the '99 Durango I owned previous to this one. The power locks were flaking out when I bought it four years ago, and now some of the doors simply won't lock with the power locks anymore. Also, the alarm will go off if the doors were locked whether I unlock it with the key or not. If you are in a pinch and can buy one for really cheap, go for it, but if you have options, I wouldn't recommend it at all.

I had a long conversation with the salesman over the phone before coming in to the dealer. I had a difficult financing situation and I didn't want to waste my time at the dealer for hours if we weren't going to be able to get the deal done. The salesman was great, he wasn't pushy or obnoxious. I got the vehicle I wanted for a fair price.

They gave me a great price and we did it all over the phone. They did not try any tricks or play any games. The car I got had way more features than I thought I could afford. I got leather seats and automated everything. He got us in and out of the dealership in time to make it to my daughter's ballet recital. When I got home, I got a message from another dealership that I went to, who laughed and my request for the basic model at $25000, and I got my car for $21400!
