This is a great European sedan choice. As a 3 or 4 year old used car it is also a very good used sedan choice, as it is a way to get a luxury performance quality car at basically 1/2 price. These cars have good longevity and should last a decade with no problems, even at high mileage. This is the previous generation styling, 2004-2009 which to my eyes is more modern and edgy than the current, and I really like it. The 3 liter 6 cyl engine is super smooth and a great freeway car due to seat comfort and overall ride and handling. From all accounts it is very well built with good detail trim inside and out. I have not experience any issues in 2 years ownership. 5 series are relatively large sedans, but not a huge boat, and still handle great, very much fun to drive car and super safe feeling. Also convenient is the excellent trunk size. This version does not have the turbo, but while fast enough, it has better mileage and probably a bit less expensive to maintain in the long run vs the 535i version. The inline 6 cyl bow engine is quite legendary and a good reason to own vs. the newer 528i that now have a 4 cyl turbo. The upgraded stereo option is really excellent, as is the interior trim quality and leather seating. Both appear of better grade than older generation bow's which were more spartan. Overall a fabulous car, with the 2008-2009 528i model years benefiting of some minor trim improvements and improvement in engine performance over the 2004-2007 530i model years. Highly recommended.
