We were in a really tough spot when we came into the Hillside CarMax. We were driving an '08 Suburban that was just a royal gas hog, behind in bills, etc etc, but happened to be our only vehicle at the time. CarMax really made us feel like we were important to them, evaluated our Suburban straight away and gave us a fair price without haggling over dings or perfect cleanliness. Then they asked us how much we were wanting to use for a down payment, what sort of vehicle we were looking for, and we took a walk out on the lot. Found the 2008 Impala, beautiful car, good mileage & mpg, everything we were looking for, at a price that didn't seem unreachable. Let's be honest here, our credit SUCKS. We told the agent that from the beginning, and that we had tried at several other places and were either told they couldn't help us, or offered contracts that were nothing but sheer highway robbery and well above what we could afford. The CarMax agent wasn't bothered, ran our numbers anyway, and lo & behold came up with three financing offers from reasonably well-known banks, all within our budget. I was stunned. I think I actually said, "You're KIDDING!" right out loud. Needless to say, we signed the paperwork and got out of there before we could pinch ourselves & wake up!

It was ok. I wouldn't think it was great by any means. The people seemed nice and every one you see will ask you if you would like a bottle of water, no seriously - EVERYONE! I must have been asked 10 or more times. The sales people pretend they have no idea what kind of prices the cars are and that they have no control over any of that (they play dumb) and make you talk to the finance people. The finance people will try to secretly add in a bunch of stuff one does not need on their car and make it seem like you have to have it all or bad things will happen.
