The 2009 Impala SS was a great first car for anyone looking to get into a safe American V8. The front wheel drive setup is a little strange but makes the power, around 300 manageable for anyone in any condition. It’s truly a year round v8 car. My car has 290,000 miles and with normal maintenance it’s run great it’s entire life. Very low cost to own.

The car was very dependable for the most part. Initially, after buying, I had a problem with the air conditioner. It was very loud, making a rattling sound. It was very alarming, but I got it fixed by the dealer (luckily, I caught it when test driving, so they fixed it before I bought it.). The car's speed and fuel efficiency were not too bad. It had issues with turning (It was a bit like a tank with how much I had to turn the wheel), and I had to get the brakes replaced about a month after buying because it was making a grinding sound. But overall, it was a good dependable car.
