Old yet reliable
The used vehicle I own is a 1999 Ford Contour. At the time of purchase, I was pleased to see that there was no damage on the outside. The inside was a little dirty, but it had been owned by another with children at a low price of $500. All the needed functions to operate the vehicle worked properly. I was concerned with the mileage on the odometer being over 100,000. Living in a rural area there is a need to travel long distances. There was a spare tire included. When test driving it, there were no problems at all. Which made it easier to decide to purchase the car. A dislike was that there was no heat or air working. I did like that the trunk size was big and would fit a lot of groceries for example. I mainly wanted to have a vehicle that would get me to and from work. Also, with very little to repair needed. I did not care for the color, which was maroon. It wound up being what I needed.

One of the better cars I've owned
I like the car over-all. It runs great for being as old as it is, and gets great gas mileage. Also, the seats have an adjustment for lumbar support which is great for people like me - with a bad back. The dash is coming up which is a bit of an eyesore, but it doesn't get in the way when driving. One thing that I do not like is that the steering wheel doesn't move, so it's hard to get comfortable. Also, because it doesn't move I have to have my seat further back for my legs to fit under the wheel. I have trouble being able to reach the radio since the seat is so far back. I don't like how slanted the back seats are, because it makes it difficult to get the base of my daughter's car seat level, and it slides around once installed. I like the electric windows and locks. It has cruise control, but nothing on the dash to tell you whether it's on or off which is frustrating.

mediocre car but works good
The Ford Contour was a good car for get to and from where you need to go. There is nothing fancy about the car would be a good car for a college or high school student. The best thing about this car is that it is older and easier to maintain yourself with minimal mechanical skills unlike most newer models today. The part of the car that I hate the most is the poor gas mileage. It seems that I drove just a few miles to work and back but have to fill it up every week. It is a solid car that performs well but since it is older I have to take it in for maintenance more often. It was a well built car that has stood the test of time. When I bought it over 14 years ago it was previously a rental car and it stood up well for the years that I have owned it. Another thing that I like about this car is its trunk. It has enough room for anything you could possibly want to put in it. It also has four doors which is something that I hadn't had on a car before and was very handy when hauling lots of stuff.
