I was searching for a budget tow vehicle for my race car. The V8 Explorer has a high-tow rating thanks to its body on frame construction, and they made a ton of them in this generation so the price on the used market is low. The one I bought is fully loaded and sold for close to 40k originally, but I paid almost one-tenth of that.

Great all purpose SUV

My Ford Explorer XLT is black, 4WD and leather seating. I love how the SUV handles in winter weather; it gives me a sense that my family is safe when travelling through snow, etc. It seats 7 and we can comfortably fit two car seats along with grandma and grandpa for road trips. I am not a fan of the gas mileage or the size of the gas tank. Also, the black interior turns into an inferno on a hot summer day.
