It wasn't great at all. I had the worst experience I think anyone could have while buying a car because it affected my credit score negatively. Its a rather long story but basically we did 3 credit checks/loan applications which means I had a ton of hard inquires. And it was all because of the incompetence of my CarMax associate. I ended up purchasing anyway because it was the only Escape in town that had everything I was looking for.
