Ford Escape Owner Ratings & Reviews

2013 Ford Escape - Sporty, family friendly.
The 2013 Ford Escape has been a reliable vehicle for our family for five years. The engine is responsive with the Eco boost and the handling is comparable to a high end German car. Beyond a couple recall/repair things under warranty in the first year, it has been reliable. We originally sought out the Escape as it had the largest cargo area of any of the smaller SUV with good gas mileage.
Story
Out of my 12 colleagues in an office, I live the farthest away. When snow and ice hit and living uphill above 500 feet, I made to work without trouble (with my AWD and ice tires). None of my colleagues made it to work. Take that, city slickers!
Pros
Great handling, AWD works well in snow, ice and rain. Great acceleration and overall engine responsiveness. Heated seats and individual temperature controls. SYNC features allow hands free cell phone ability. Large cargo area that can accommodate multiple hockey bags including goalie gear and sticks - and still haul 3 people. Seats do adjust in multiple ways to feel either more like a SUV or more like a sedan depending on your preference.
Cons
Road noise is more than expected and unpleasant. Seats are not very comfortable beyond about 15-20 minutes so not ideal for road trips. Significant blind spots that one has to learn and compensate for with driving. Gas mileage expected has been hard to achieve. Based on the ratings and living in a rural area traveling to city for work we were anticipating about 25 mpg. We mostly get 21 mpg and with longer distances 23 mpg. Does not have a 3rd seat option to make it a 7 passenger vehicle like some similar sized competitors.
2013 Ford Escape - Ambivalent
The 2013 Ford Escape is a great all-around, small SUV. The Eco boost engine gives it great get up and go with decent MPG. It handles almost like a German luxury brand. It's tough enough as an SUV, yet.
Story
When my coworkers were freaking out about the weather, I was able to drive home smoothly with my AWD and ice tires, and I live the farthest away from work, up in the hills over 500 ft. elevation!
Pros
Handles adeptly. Great acceleration. Foot trigger to raise hatch is awesome. Largest cargo area of small SUVs in the class. No major mechanical flaws/recalls. Good stereo system. Dual climate controls. Multiple power/usb outlets.
Cons
Seats are not very comfortable. More blind spots than expected - front, side and back. Road noise is more than I expected. Mileage runs about 22 MPG when I anticipated better. Would prefer taller vehicle where I was up a bit higher as an SUV. Interior only comes in black.

1994 Ford F-250 - Wright Ford Inc Redmond
The sales staff were honest, and straight forward. The dealer I worked with told me about what was wrong with the truck (small things), as well as benefits the truck had. He always followed through on anything he said he was going to do, and was very pleasant to work with.
2005 Ford F-150 - Kuni Auto Center Beaverton
They have a great selection of cars, both new and used. The sales people are very good, where they have a great amount of knowledge of the cars and are quick to answer any questions. Also these sales people are not the type to pressure you, they are friendly and non threatening. The amount you can deal with them is also great, you can get lower prices for their used cars.
