I have over 100k miles on it and it's doing great. Lots of people report getting over 200k on these trucks and haven't even changed the spark plugs. I regularly do all the maintenance suggested in the manual. I've put tires and brakes on it. Recently I replaced the rotors. I live in Ohio and the salt gets them. I had an Explorer but couldn't fit my Mastiffs in the back so I got the bigger one. I feel safe in it because I can see way ahead going at high speeds on the interstates. With all the drinking and driving, texting and driving, talking on the phone and driving, I feel defensive driving is more necessary than ever. Add all the distracted drivers to bad weather and you really need a tank and the Expedition is it!
Story
I drove cross-country with it hauling a trailer with 2 giant Mastiffs and it did OK. The trailer was really heavy so it wasn't awesome going up hill (I have the small 8) but it was satisfactory. You don't get blown off the road by all the semi's on a trip like that either.
Pros
Large size and high profile so you can keep an eye on other drivers. A lot of iron so if you do get in a wreck, you're safer than driving a tin can. Reliability. Based on the F-150, it's a no-nonsense vehicle. Comfortable ride. No rattles. Everything works.
Cons
It does have a rollover issue so cornering fast is a real no-no in this rig. Gas mileage is not good--around 14 mpg city.

I was in need of third-row seating. We have two young kids and are always running here and there and going places with family. It was always such a pain to have to jockey car seats around or take two vehicles. Not any more. This SUV does everything I need it to do and then some. I can haul my kids and my livestock around in this thing. Not to mention the ability to pull my 14' livestock trailer with ease.
Story
Last year we put two large dog kennels in the back and drove about three hours to pick up some new goats for the farm. We all found out how smelly goats can be after the first hour.
Pros
It is big enough for everyone without being too big. There is plenty of storage even with the third row up. I love being able to put a movie in for my kids for a long road trip. Plenty of leg room, even in the third row. My husband is 6'2" and can comfortably sit anywhere.
Cons
My only complaint is that it is rather expensive to keep maintained. New plugs and wires at the dealership were well over $600. I'm sure new tires will be quite expensive as well. I do have a few spots where my clear coat is coming off, and the paint is starting to bubble, but that's purely cosmetic at this point.

The sales staff was so helpful. I had found a few cars that I liked, one of which was located several miles away. I made the call and provided the information required and they had the car shipped to my local CarMax. The sales staff was able to answer all questions that I had, which mostly concerned the financing and extended warranty options. Everything was explained thoroughly so I knew what to expect during each step of the buying process. There was no pushiness, hassle, or runaround that I had experienced with several dealerships around the Cincinnati area. Easy, painless, and actually enjoyable.
