I love my truck! It's definitely one of the better Ford trucks built in the 2000s. I use it for driving to work, hauling hay, trailering my horse, and hauling a 20 ft sport boat. The gas mileage is much better than I would expect it to be (19 mph HWY) and it's run smoothly so far. I used to live in the Rockies and driving around did not break the bank. It also handled all sorts of weather well.
Story
I once ran over a downed log in the middle of the night and after a long time of trying to drive away (two of my wheels were up in the air), I remembered I had 4 wheel drive and got unstuck in no time. Whoops!
Pros
Leather interior, great mileage, hauls well, hasn't broken down yet.
Cons
For some reason, the battery won't hold a charge. I tried putting a new battery in and no change. The guys at the shop cannot figure out what is wrong, but I put a cheap kill switch in, so now I can turn the battery connection off remotely and not have to worry about having a dead truck in the morning (or worry about anyone stealing my truck!).

The 2006 Ford F150 STX six cylinder auto two-wheel drive truck is an excellent workhorse that just keeps running and running no matter what. As long as you follow the factory suggested maintenance, this truck should be able to go at least 250k miles. I have a basic model. Roll-up windows, manual door locks and manual side mirrors. But, who really cares? Those minor inconveniences are nothing compared to the quality of the truck. My truck is bone stock with the only upgrade beyond the standard STX trim being the bed cover. The wheels are slightly upgraded beyond the dog dish hub caps. It is sparkling silver in color. So far, no big repair costs. It easily holds two adults and one child. Limited slip differential means better traction on hills. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly.... (more)
Story
I've taken it to Montana fly fishing driving on miles of dirt roads with no problems.
Pros
Durable. Dependable. Relatively cheap.
Cons
Wish it had auto windows and side mirror adjustments.
