My Fusion has convinced me that overall, by 2007, Ford clearly changed perceptions and reality about their build and design quality. Specifically, the performance of the power train is economical for a car this size/ weight. 25-32 mpg, city-to-highway is better than I originally expected, and is still the average mileage I get now that there's 208k+ miles on her. The suspension seems to be able to handle all types of roadways without a problem, even a little gravel and unpaved/ rutted roads. Traction and handling on snow or icier roads isn't great, but at slower speeds, it's easy to learn how to compensate for any tendency to slide or veer. Braking has always been steady and strong.
Story
Fun taking the dog out for walks and runs; the (covered) back seat is more than roomy for her, so she doesn't get too anxious riding for awhile.
Pros
Engine performance, acceleration from cruising speed. Trunk space is better than average. Interior room and space for driver and passengers is comfortable. Handling good for a larger sedan.
Cons
Transmission seems to be hindered by specific rough spots under different circumstances. Transmission sensors and seals are vulnerable, unreliable (and expensive to repair). Interior materials and components (especially inside doors, door hardware) is not of highest quality. Facing repairs on some of this now, and if it weren't for that, I would probably keep car for longer term.

We absolutely love our car. It is very stylish, but still big enough for my growing family (kids' ages 10 and 14). It is also very reliable. I've had it almost two years, and it has had no work other than oil changes. It is not the best in the snow, as it does not have a lot of traction.
Story
Last summer my entire family went on a road trip to Mesa Verde. The kids and I had never been there, so it was a dream come true. We had an awesome time, and learned a lot. My Ford ate up the open road, and we had to stop for gas less often than my sister's Hyundai Sonata.
Pros
I love the look of the car. It is stylish and hip, and doesn't look like a typical "family sedan". I love the pinstripes and "tattoos". I've named it "Miss Scarlet". It gets awesome gas mileage, although it is not a hybrid. I love all the technology features. My favorite is the ability to sync my phone to it and play music through the speakers with no cords! We all love the sun roof, the cover is never closed! It also warms up really fast on cold mornings.
Cons
The door handles are a bit flimsy. There is hardly any space between the tires and the body, so living in Colorado, I often have to stop and dig the snow out of the way. It is a bit low to get into (I am 5'7'), and I often hit my head.
