2011 Ford Fusion - Reliable College Car
I have had my Ford Fusion for 11 months now. It is incredibly reliable and great on gas mileage. I am an out of state college student so I have driven 6+ hours in this car at a time and it is incredibly comfortable. The A/C works great as well in the summer. It does not have that much power as it is a V4 so this was a change from my Ford Explorer. I like to say that it is a zippy little car. It is a great start out car for someone who wants a reliable affordable car.
Story
I went on one of the first dates I had gone on with my now boyfriend. I drove to the beach with him in the passenger seat and we relaxed on the beach and went in the water. When it came time to go, my boyfriend decided to drive as we were going to Neptune's Net and I did not know where it was. I remember the windows down, the sea breeze in my hair, and music playing. It was such a wonder day o... (more)
Pros
On the highway the car gets around 30 MPG and on the streets it gets close to 25 MPG. This is great for anyone that is trying to save some money at the gas pump. I love the two cigarette lighters for phone/ electronic chargers, one on the dash area and one in the center console. It has hands free and Sirius radio as well. While the Sirius radio is an extra monthly subscription, it is well worth the money. Especially is you do a lot of driving.
Cons
The car does not have a lot of power so it takes a bit to accelerate so changing lanes is sometimes a bit of a process. It also does not have seat warmers which would have been a nice addition for the cold mornings.
2010 Ford Fusion - Ford Fusion - a great reliable car.
Overall, this car is a winner. While not over-the-top in luxury, it is extremely reliable and will get you from point A to point B comfortably for years. I drove this car every day for the last several years and put tons of miles on it and have barely had any problems. If you take care of this car, it will last a long time and continue to perform very well.
Story
I took this car camping a year ago. We loaded it up with tons of stuff, drove it 4 hours one way and had a great weekend out in the wilderness.
Pros
It is very reliable - I have put almost 90,000 miles on it and only had to take it to the shop once (I get regular oil changes and take care of it so factor that in). It is very well built. It has no rattling or super visible wear and tear. The car is great for road trips, it gets great gas mileage and doesn’t overheat. The front seats are very comfortable, very high quality padding. It has great A/C, I’ve been driving this car in AZ for the past 6 years and it’s never let me down.
Cons
The back seat is quite small if there are passengers in the front who want a little extra room. The trunk shape is a bit odd, so fitting in large items like paintings can be a challenge. The front vents don’t have a lot of flexibility in terms of movement, so the driver and the front seat passenger may have a tough time fighting over where the vents are pointed. The standard headlights are not particularly bright, so you may want to upgrade to a better bulb. The rear window de-frost setting is not very powerful, so take extra care in bad weather.
