2001 Ford Taurus - Terrific Taurus

My 2001 Ford Taurus has been an excellent car since I have had it. It has over 100,000 miles on it and has thus far needed no extensive servicing or repair to keep it running smoothly. It is a smooth ride, accelerates quickly, has a good turning radius considering its length, and also pretty good gas mileage considering its age.

Story

I received the car as a gift from my stepfather for Christmas, so the first thing I did with it was take a road trip. I took my brother back to school in Reno from Las Vegas, then drove through to San Francisco and back down the California coast, through to Los Angeles and back across to Las Vegas. Pros

The vehicle has automatic everything, which is a feature that I have not experienced in any of the cars I have owned up to this point. It is spacious but not excessively so. I feel comfortable driving around big and small cars. It is only a sedan but feels very secure and roomy. I have never had problems with any of the individual mechanical or electronic parts in the vehicle, and as it has been well maintained over the years it is still a dependable vehicle for me now and, presumably, into the foreseeable future as well.

Cons

The car is bigger than I personally need, as it is usually just me driving myself around. It has carpet-type material on the interior which is difficult to clean if it gets soiled by liquids, for example coffee or juice. I wish it had a sunroof!

2005 Ford Taurus - It's good but has its problems

I bought the car used and have had it for four years now. It works really great and has gotten me all over the U.S. However, right after I first bought it the check engine light came on. There is an air intake problem that I have tired to get fixed over 10 times now and it still has the issue. The car is very comfortable to drive for long distances.

Story

I drove out to South Dakota from Utah twice in this car that's over 1400 miles! The first time I drove there was a lose baring in the a/c thingy and it broke a belt but luckily didn't happen until I arrived at my destination! What luck! It only cost 400.00 to replace everything so it wasn't to bad!

Pros

It's very comfortable and seats six people! I don't know many cars that fit six people in them so this is a huge plus. If you take long road trips this car is very comfortable to drive in, so it makes those long distance trips easy. It does have cruise control if you like that for long distance trips as well. The parts to fix the car are not expensive either so it's pretty cheap when you have to fix a part on it.

Cons

I have had the air intake problem for years and no one can seem to fix it for me. That is a huge con because the car chugs when it is cold out and sometimes when I turn it will shut off completely and this has happened on the FREEWAY! You have to put the car in park and start it up again. Other than that one issue I can't see any other cons with this car.
