2007 Ford Taurus - Safe, reliable, and not too pricey
This wasn't a bad buy. At the time of purchase, it only had 14,000 miles on it. I used it mostly for short commutes (work, supermarket, etc.) with an occasional trip here and there. The first few years of owning this car were great. It is roomy and comfortable to drive in for long periods of time. But then the battery died, and I had to get a few tires replaced. The transmission started to act very badly as well. My mechanic tells me that the factory transmission in this car is not good and had to get it replaced which cost me a pretty penny. Other then that, the car is pretty dependable for what I need it for.
Story
I took a two-hour trip to a Long Island City with some friends. The car made it to and back safely without any problems. We spent the night in the car and was surprised at how comfortable it was.
Pros
Car is spacious. Decent size for a large family size. Very reliable, when working properly. Nice interior. Wasn't too pricey.
Cons
Battery, tires, and transmission.
1998 Ford Taurus - Sturdy and reliable
This car was a solid daily driver for me for many years. It was dependable and had few issues for the longest time. I would recommend Ford cars to others.
Story
Driving around with three people in the front seat singing seeing as the console folds down into another seat.
Pros
The car had decent gas mileage for it's age. It had a comfortable drive and had few issues for a very long time. Keeping up with regular maintenance and wear and tear repairs made this a very dependable car for a long time.
Cons
Bigger body, was sometimes difficult to maneuver. Also once I had one major problem everything started falling apart. Around 90 thousand miles I had to have the transmission replaced, and since then something break on the car every month, from the AC to the break lines to everything in between. However I do realize this is just a symptom of how old the car is and could also be cause by the shop that did the repairs on the car, as replacing a transmission is a major repair.
