I own a 2000 Honda Accord which I bought used from my family when I began college. We have lovingly named her Kimmy, and she feels like a family member since we've all grown up in that car! When equipped with a CVT, the four-cylinder model can return 27 mpg in the city and a solid 36 mpg on the highway. Expect the manual transmission to slightly reduce its fuel economy. Fortunately, the new model does not require the use of premium fuel.
