I own a 2000 Honda Accord which I bought used from my family when I began college. We have lovingly named her Kimmy, and she feels like a family member since we've all grown up in that car! She was top of the line when she was purchased new -- leather interior, sunroof, power windows -- the works. Even to this day, the only thing I feel is missing from her is built-in navigation, and I can't even fault her too much for that since I'm pretty sure that technology didn't exist 17 years ago on a commercial scale. She's never given us any major trouble -- no dead batteries, tire changes, or failing mechanics up until very recently. She's getting old, you see. And especially since she was the first car I drove, she suffered a bit at my young and unexperienced hands. She was rear-ended once a... (more)
Story
I remember learning how to drive in Kimmy when I was 16, and I didn't feel afraid because I felt like I already knew the car -- I'd lived in it for so long. Since then, she's become the "adventure car" in my friend group. We're always driving her places because everyone loves her so much.
Pros
I love that this car was the top of the line -- the leather seats are still amazing, although the driver seat is cracking a little bit. She has a good sound system with all audio controls on the steering wheel. I've gotten addicted to that. I can't drive a car without audio controls on the steering anymore! She's spacious inside -- enough to fit six people in an emergency. The sunroof is a great way to let the heat escape in the summer and to stargaze at night. The mirrors and windows are large enough that I never feel like I have a blind spot, and the power seat ensures that I can be seat... (more)
Cons
Honestly, there weren't any negative features about this car until about five years ago when her paint started peeling off from the driver side front door. Now the paint is just peeling off like it was a cheap sticker, but I've noticed almost all the Honda Accords from that year are facing the same issue. I guess 13 years was just the maximum lifespan of the paint they used. She's also starting to rust a little bit from the rear passenger side wheel, but again, that's to be expected after nearly two decades. I'm most upset about the face that I have to get the brakes replaced every year. O... (more)

In my opinion the 2013 Honda Accord is the best overall car in the midsize class. The Honda Accord does most things well and it gets all the important things right. The Accord has good power and gas mileage. Although the acceleration and power from a standstill are only adequate, the power and acceleration at highway speeds are surprisingly robust. If you drive the car at the speed limit you can easily manage 35 miles per gallon or more on long distance trips. Moreover, the Accord has a spacious and comfortable interior. The Accord will easily seat 4 adults. There is great rear seat leg and head room. While the ride of the Accord is a bit harsh on bumpy roads, it's tolerable. There are tradeoffs to a stiffer suspension; such stiffness in the suspension gives the driver confidence drivi... (more)
Story
The Accord made our 2 hour drive down to the shore fun and pleasant. We didn't have to stop to refuel and we didn't have to worry about being cramped in our seats. The Accord made the trip easy.
Pros
In no particular order, the top features of the 2013 Honda Accord Ex-L are: 1) surprising power 2) excellent highway gas mileage 3) passenger mirror camera 4) 2 button driver seat memory 5) good interior space and comfort 6) the cvt transmission on the 4 cylinder models can often be very smooth 7) the exterior styling is handsome and will age well
Cons
In no particular order, the top negative features of the 2013 Accord Ex-L are: 1) poor exterior paint. It chips and scratches extremely easily 2) occasional shuttering at stops in cold weather from the cvt transmission on 4 cylinder models 3) poor sound quality from the radio 4) somewhat confusing dual screens on the dashboard 5) leather seats are merely adequate quality 6) the ride quality can be a bit harsh on bumpy roads 7) glass quality is merely adequate, it seems to scratch easily 8) more expensive then other cars in the segment
