Honda Civic Owner Ratings & Reviews

2006 Honda Civic - My sweet old lady
I have a plain jane no-frills Honda Civic, and I absolutely love it. Its body is sleek and streamlined, and I always say it looks like a bullet. There is nothing I dislike about the car, except for the cheap plastic oil dipstick, which is difficult to read and the recall on the sun visors, which were extremely annoying to deal with. I don't even mind that the car doesn't go from 0 to 60 very fast, but it is absolutely reliable in every way.
Story
I drove it pretty fast up and down the mountain to Julian, which was thrilling and stupid at the same time.
Pros
My favorite things about this car include the body style. It is the first of its kind when Honda changed the Civic body style. Then they evolved it again later, and the new batch came out to be horrendous. The car doesn't actually have any cool features since it is a no-frills base model. I just like that it looks nice and is very easy to steer (lightness in turning the wheel unlike German cars). I would say it is like riding in a spaceship. I do also enjoy the extremely large digital odometer.
Cons
The negative things for me involve maintenance if you are the DIY type. The plug for the oil pan is at an odd angle, and if you need a lot of torque to get it off, you better hope your tool isn't too long. The dipstick, which I already mentioned, seems quite cheap as well. I disliked all the manufacturing recall problems with the car - visors, door sticking (I never got mine fixed and the passenger side door needs to be slammed shut), and Takata air bag issue.
1999 Honda Civic - Why I Heart My Civic
The Civic is great because its compact without feeling small inside. It's almost 20 years old and is going on 200,000 miles yet I haven't had any major issues with the engine. The interior has held up nicely over the years as well. I'm the second owner and still there are no major tears or scratches in the upholstery. Since the Honda Civic is such a popular car, replacement parts are really cheap and easy to find. The engine is quiet and strong. The sound system still sounds crisp and clear. My Civic has great fuel economy. It also has great pick up on the highway. I love that it sits close to the ground. It almost feels like a small sports car without actually being so. If I do need to make any repairs to the car, most of which I've done myself, its easy to find helpful videos on YouT... (more)
Story
I rebuilt the front end of my car because it was in an accident. I wanted something a little different so I found these cool fenders at a shop that is really far from my neighborhood. There is a car almost exactly like mine with the same bright teal fenders. People are always telling me they've seen this car around. Its funny because my car is so multi colored right now and so is this car in e... (more)
Pros
My top favorite things are:
1. The size: Compact but roomy
2. Fuel economy: speaks for itself
3. Ease of maintenance: Cheap parts and labor
4. Reliability: No major issues in almost 20 years.
Cons
My top negative things are:
1. Having worked on this car personally some parts of the build are a little flimsy. Some of the interior plastic, etc. Issues which have been addressed in newer models.
2. My car was stolen once. I learned that Civics are very easy to steal often using another Civic key.

No haggling or hard sales tactics. The dealer is near my home in case I needed repairs.
