I initially leased my Honda Civic, brand new, in 2010. After having it for 3 years, and having an overall positive experience with it, I decided to purchase it after the lease was complete. I purchase vehicles based on their economic value and carbon footprint. My intent is to always maintain a vehicle wisely so that it can be driven as long as possible. I currently have 80,000 miles on the vehicle and can confidently say it is the best car I've ever owned. I live in Minnesota, where harsh winters can be very trying on vehicles. The Honda Civic is small, but sturdy. It has no issues starting in subzero temperatures, and also warms up relatively quickly. It also handles extremely well in slick and snowy road conditions. I've gotten it stuck in deep snow a few times, after a blizzard, and with it being lightweight it's easy to push out. It has great pickup too, for only being a 4 cylinder vehicle and always rides extremely smooth. After owning it for six and half years, and with 80,000 miles put on it, I've had no major mechanical failures. A few issues: I did have a window motor go out, but it was still covered under warranty at the time. I've also noticed that the tires will deflate a little when it gets below freezing outside as I don't have a garage where I live, so it's more exposed to the elements. I've been satisfied with the necessary required maintenance, and if I had to purchase another Civic again, I would do so in an instant.

I think that the 1999 Honda Civic LX is a reliable car that contains great gas mileage. I like the comfort. The LX has power everything except seats. The drivers and passenger seat has many adjustments. This is as comfortable on long drives as a full-sized car. I have driven it across state several times and no problem with fatigue. With the miles on the car going up, this car still performs okay and can see it lasting at least another 100,000 miles. From all the research I've done and things I've heard about the Honda Civic, I'm convinced it's one of the most reliable and cost-efficient cars you can own. Solid, reliable, and economical describes the Honda Civic. As far as the cons go, I really do not care for the shallow cup holders. Making turns with coffee is a dangerous game in this car. The CD player has not been the best either the older the car has gotten. It works while driving around town but will stop working once you reach around 55+ mph. Not quite sure how this works but while traveling on the highway each and every time the CD player does not work. Sucks for long distance when you do not get the best radio stations to listen to on your journey. Required me to purchase an adapter so I could plug something into my smart phone to listen to music.
