Yes, a Civic can be a Family Car
The primary reason I decided to buy a Civic was the perceived reliability of Honda and the fuel efficiency of a smaller car. I've owned my car for over two years now, and it is outstanding in both areas. The cost of ownership of the Civic has been extremely low, which I appreciate. I am also a commuter so the average fuel efficiency of 34 mpg has been great. When I bought my car, I was pregnant and everyone thought I was crazy for buying such a small car when I would be dealing with a car seat daily. But I didn't find getting the carrier into and out of the car any more difficult than doing so in a large SUV. The trunk is large enough to hold my large baby stroller, and although my husband occasionally grumbles a bit his 6' 4" frame fits easily within my car's front seat. The only real downside we have found with this car is the lack of power, but overall this car really serves our purposes.

Reliable and function rich
I named the vehicle Black Betty mostly for the color of the car. The back tail lights are my favorite cosmetic aspect of the vehicle. They just have a piercing, crisp quality about them. I added a sound system consisting of a subwoofer and an amp in the trunk. The trunk still had ample space left over after adding the system. The car has proven to be great on gas mileage as I've driven it across state lines almost every weekend since I purchased it. I've had to change two tires, buy a new battery, and replace the starter on the car so far in the two years I've owned it.

Worth every penny.
I am a bit bias, but I absolutely love my Honda Civic. We're closing in on 20 years and it has only had one previous owner. I've owned it for 17 of those 20 years. The maintenance on it has been minimal, other than typical wear and tear. I almost have 275,000 miles on it and I don't see it slowing down anytime soon. The miles per gallon is my favorite feature. For as small as it is, it can hold a lot of things and has more than adequate trunk space. I recently became a mom and wish the backseats were a little roomier to hold the large car seats that are typical in 2017. I have also noticed in other 1999 Civics that the exterior paint is not holding up to external conditions. While mine is good, it is not the original paint as it was repainted through the warranty when it was a year old. Overall it is a great compact vehicle, I've gotten my money's worth and then some. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a new car with great gas mileage. The only thing that this vehicle has proven to me is that I'm going to be a Honda customer for life!
