2012 Honda CR-V - Very practical and surprisingly tough SUV

I love this vehicle. I don't drive it on a daily basis; it is my wife who drives around with it. It is our only SUV, so we use it for all types of transporting of big and heavy things. It is very, very reliable. The vehicle doesn't ask for anything but gas, and of course, maintenance when the mileage requires it. I've carried all sorts of things on this SUV, and it feels solid. We have also gone on a couple of road trips, and it has preformed very nicely. When we return home, it was ready to take the kids to school on the next day.
Story
I was very surprised the first time we went on a road trip with the SUV, because we had went with some friends that where in off-road types of trucks. We went to a pretty fun farm house of a friend, and this place had steep hills, mud, and all sorts of obstacles for regular vehicles. Even though we didn't get the SUV, through all of the difficult terrains that there where in this place, it did... (more)
Pros
I think that one of the best qualities of this vehicle is its interior space. It is very comfortable for up to five people, it has good room for the legs (I'm pretty tall), and every seat (even the ones in the back) can lean backwards for a nap on long road trips. The feel of driving it is also very smooth, and it makes you feel secure. As I said, a very important pro is that the SUV doesn't ask for anything and functions beautifully, and it already has more than 100,000 miles.
Cons
If I would have to criticize anything about this SUV, it is that the handle for the gear (that goes right next to the steering wheel) and the handle for the windshield wipers are too close together. When we first bought it, I remember that I grabbed the wrong one a couple of times, but then I quickly got the hang out of it. Also, that the first stereo that it brought (a very simple one) had an absurdly hard mechanism to set the time. I still spend a couple of hours trying to set the time whenever we disconnect the battery and it goes off time.

2001 Honda CR-V - Small SUV with great fuel mileage and lots of room and features.

I like how much room the car has inside. There is room for five passengers plus cargo in the rear. The rear hatch window opens up so you use the cargo space similar to a truck, and the rear door swings open horizontally, so you have full clearance into the cargo space. The door also has hooks and attachments to hang clothes/items from the door while it's open. The rear cargo/spare tire cover is actually a plastic folding table! This car is really great for people who want to camp and do outdoor activities. The roof is also designed to have a roof rack to store bikes, boats, kayaks, canoes, etc.
Story
Made six trips of 200+ miles with all my stuff in the back of a trailer with this vehicle. Took most of it like a champ, but struggled a bit with elevation. Was fun and I would do it again, but the trailer def put some extra stress on the suspension of the vehicle, which needed attention after so many miles of towing at close to the rated capacity of the vehicle.
Pros
Four-cylinder engine for great fuel mileage. Fold-down seats and large cargo area. Center console/drink holder can be folded up and down to fit large objects. And, of course, the really cool fold out table in the cargo area! The vehicle also has standard power windows and locks. Designed for people who want to camp and do outdoor activities. Easy for owner maintenance as well. Tune ups and brakes are very easy, and most people with the available tools could do most major repairs to the vehicle with some online guidance.
Cons
The suspension is based off the lighter weight Honda civic platform, and thus is subject to premature wear. Specifically the bushings in the front lower control arms are not quite up to the task up supporting the extra weight of the small SUV. After several years they'll begin to sag and affect the alignment and tire wear of the vehicle. They also have an issue with the valves in the engine that can cause serious engine damage. With proper attention the valve issue can be avoided. The suspension, however, must be dealt with every five -plus years.

The customer service was amazing. I loved the wide selection they had. The finance department worked hard to get us approved and help us get the most for our trade. The day we went was hot, and they offered my family food and drinks while we waited on approval. They made us feel like we were their number one priority even though they were busy.

The staff was extremely friendly. The prices were very fair considering cars are normally a bit more expensive in our area and less expensive in larger surrounding cities. The service department had tons of options and at great prices. The service department works quickly but guarantees all of their work.
