I loved the amount of seating this car has! It has seating for seven people, which is important for someone with a lot of children to transport. I also loved the flexibility of the seats in the back two rows. For example, when I needed to transport things (even as large as a twin size box spring and mattress) I could chose which seats to lay down and still have room for other passengers in the car. One thing that I wish could be different about the car is the amount of leg room in the back row. Anyone tall or with long legs at all would be very uncomfortable in the back row with no space for their feet. The other thing that I am less than pleased with is the amount of road noise. It is very loud and made having a conversation on the cell phone quite challenging.
Story
My best memory in this car was driving it to our vacations in Florida! I loved having all of us riding in one car!!!
Pros
My favorite things about this vehicle are the safety features. I really appreciate all the airbags in the front, back and sides. The traction control and stability system is also very important to me. It kicks in very quickly when I hit icy patches and snow. It has kept me on the road many times when I was driving in bad weather in our Lake Effect snow country roads.
Cons
The top negative things are the very loud road noise that comes into the vehicle, and the rear differential which has given me quite a lot of trouble and expense for several years. When reversing out of my curved driveway, there was a loud grinding/clunking noise from the rear of the car. When we had it checked we were told the fluid needed to be changed, but after doing it the problem got worse. We were then told we could change the differential itself for several thousand dollars, or had the fluid changed repeatedly for a hundred dollars at a time and hope for the best. We went with the ... I like being able to use my Honda Pilot for various activities around town including commuting, hauling materials home, driving my wife and three kids as well as traveling. Despite having a lot of space, the vehicle also has a decent amount of power and I am never worried about performance when merging onto the freeway or traveling over the mountains. Mine is the All Wheel Drive model and I’ve found it reasonably capable off road for getting from point A to point B, though I am not a serious recreational off road driver. The gas mileage was a concern but I was pleasantly surprised by the performance in that regard. Obviously it isn’t as good as a smaller or less capable vehicle, but I am still able to get 300 miles out of a tank. I also like the overall looks and aesthetics of the vehi... (more)
Story
The Pilot serves our family of five plus the occasional grandparent or pet as we take outings up to Apple Hill in the fall, or drive right up to the shore of Folsom Lake in the summer. There's always enough room to comfortably get everyone there and back again safely. Our last trip to the lake one season we were also able to help two stranded cars, one with a dead battery we jumped, and anothe... (more)
Pros
The top positive things about my Pilot are the reliability, good handling, good performance and decent gas mileage as well as the full size third row seats.
Cons
The primary negative concern about the Pilot for me is the very small amount of cargo space when using the third row seats. The remaining space isn't very big and the spare tire takes up what would normally be more space below the cargo deck.
