## 2025 Infiniti QX80 Review

__Powertrain:__ The sole powertrain available in the 2025 Infiniti QX80 is a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6. 

This engine puts out 450 horsepower and runs through a nine-speed automatic transmission. 

Rear-wheel drive is standard on the two lower trims but four-wheel drive is optional while 4WD comes standard on the higher Sensory and Autograph trim levels. 

The fully loaded version of the QX80 has a zero-to-60 time of 6.1 seconds.

__What’s New for 2025?__ 

The 2025 Infiniti QX80 marks the start of a whole new generation for the full-size luxury SUV. The biggest change from the previous model comes in the form of the twin-turbo V6 engine replacing the V8 found in the 2024 version. While the engine is slightly smaller, it generates a further 50 horsepower and gets slightly better fuel economy, rendering it a more efficient vehicle than it was before. The trim lineup has also been simplified, with just four available trims instead of the six that were previously on offer. While the new QX80 is more expensive than the 2024 version, the improvements could be well worth it.

- Many of the most high-end features require you to pay for one of the higher trims, such as the QX80 Autograph trim, which has a six-figure MSRP
- While the air suspension is quiet, the ride can still be slightly harsh, especially over rough asphalt 
- Some drivers may not be impressed with the sound and feel of the smaller engine, even if it is putting out more horsepower

__Would we buy one?__ Yes! While the price is fairly steep, there's the QX80 makes up for it with top-of-the-line materials and comfort that can only be found in that price range.

The QX80 is Infiniti’s flagship full-size SUV and for the 2025 model year, it has been completely redesigned. This new QX80 has a sleek, aggressive exterior design with a large front end and grille, reminiscent of some of the high-end luxury cars of the past. The lighting is smart and wonderfully integrated into the body, making for an upscale vehicle that looks as beautiful as it performs. 

Every version of the 2025 QX80 comes with a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 engine delivering 450 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque through a nine-speed automatic transmission and either rear- or four-wheel drive, depending on the options and the trim level. All the trim levels aside from the base Pure trim come with an air-spring suspension system, which reduces body roll and keeps the QX80 smooth and comfortable in the turns. Plus, with a zero-to-60 time of 6.1 seconds, it's fairly quick for its size, and the 8,500-pound towing capacity is better than any other SUV in its category. 

Fuel economy is not for the budget-minded, though. With an EPA-estimated 16 MPG city and 20 MPG highway from the RWD model and 15 MPG city and 19 MPG during highway driving from the 4WD model, it won't save you much money on fuel. 

The QX80’s interior is where it really sets itself apart, though. With plenty of room in the front seat and more than enough in both the second-row seats and the third-row seats, there's no shortage of cubic feet for passengers or cargo space. The high-end Sensory and Autograph trims come with a massage function, plus a unique climate control system that automatically detects when a rear-seat passenger isn’t getting enough air and redirects the AC to them. There's also an available ambient lighting system, with 64 different color options as well as a cooler that can be installed in the center console.

If there's one area where the QX80 is not lacking in the least, it's the tech. The infotainment system comes with three separate displays with two 14.3-inch touchscreens on the dashboard making up the digital gauge cluster and the infotainment controls with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Another nine-inch screen sits below those two and controls the driving modes and climate control. The Luxe trim level above also add a head-up display. The operating system is Google-based and includes Google Maps, the app store, and the Google voice control feature. The standard sound system is a 14-speaker Klipsch stereo but this can be upgraded to a 24-speaker Klipsch audio system in higher trim levels. 

The safety and driver-assistance features on the QX80 are abundant. They include standard automated emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. However, in all but the base trim, you can add Infiniti’s advanced cruise control system called ProPilot Assist 2.1. This system has a hands-free driving mode and offers a more complex cruise control experience. While the 2025 QX80 has not been reviewed by the IIHS or NHTSA yet, the 2024 version received high-star ratings from both agencies, so this new version is expected to do the same. Plus, with a limited warranty covering four years or 60,000 miles, a powertrain warranty covering four years or 70,000 miles, and complimentary maintenance for three years or 45,000 miles, you can keep your QX80 in good shape for a long time. 

Compared to other vehicles in its class, the 2025 QX80 comes out on top in many categories. While it can end up being quite pricey with enough add-ons, it's nothing compared to the highest price tag of the [BMW X7](https://www.autolist.com/bmw-x7) or the [2025 Land Rover Range Rover](https://www.autolist.com/land+rover-range+rover#year_min=2025&year_max=2025). It also has more horsepower and a lower price tag than the [Lexus LX](https://www.autolist.com/lexus-lx+600), making the QX80 a great choice if you want something upscale but don’t want to dip into six-figures.

The 2025 QX80's cabin is designed to be as quiet and comfortable as possible, with lots of isolation from road noise.

The air suspension system makes for a relatively athletic and responsive ride on most terrain, but this isn't a vehicle you want to take off-road. 

Even with the air springs, bumpy asphalt transfers to the rest of the vehicle, and can make for a somewhat rough driving experience. 

The premium materials and exquisite design of the QX80’s interior make it a pleasure to drive, even with a bumpy ride here and there.

The package of standard safety features that come with the 2025 QX80 is extensive, even at the base level. 

Standard features include automated emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-keeping assist. 

If you opt for the higher-end ProPilot Assist 2.1, you not only get a more advanced cruise control system but also a hands-free driving feature. 

While the 2025 version of the QX80 hadn't been crash-tested at the time of writing, it is expected to do as well as the previous model year.

With a starting price of $84,445, the QX80 has a hefty cost and won’t be the right choice for everyone. 

If you're looking for a family SUV, the Nissan Armada or the Toyota Highlander are more budget-friendly options. 

While the price tag may be high, the QX80’s premium interior and loaded tech bundle can be worth it for the right driver. 

If you opt for the base Pure trim level, you can easily keep the price under six figures, even if you decide to add some optional equipment.

The infrared sensor system that helps control the HVAC unit is just one of the tech features that take the QX80 to the next level. There's also a 64-color ambient lighting system.

With such a low fuel economy rating, the QX80 might end up being too expensive for many people to own and operate.

The interior is handsome and well-appointed, making every inch feel as upscale as possible.

The fuel economy of the 2025 QX80 is abysmal, even in the full-size SUV category. 

With no hybrid or PHEV option, the QX80 is only a good choice for those who don’t mind spending money at the fuel pump. 

The RWD version of the QX80 gets an EPA-estimated 16 MPG city and 20 MPG highway while the 4WD version loses 1 MPG on both of those classifications. 

While the fuel economy is low, it has slightly improved since the last model year so there is hope that it will only get better as this new generation ages.

The base version of the Infiniti QX80, the __Pure trim__, comes with a 14-speaker sound system and basic adaptive cruise control. It starts at $84,445, including a $1,995 destination charge to get it from the factory to the dealership. 

The __Luxe trim__ is the next level up, and comes with the head-up display, 22-inch wheels, and leather-appointed first- and second-row seating. This version starts at $91,545. 

The __Sensory trim__ level comes with the 24-speaker Klipsch stereo system, the personalized ambient lighting array, and a frameless smart rearview mirror, starting at $102,640. 

Starting at $112,590, the top-of-the-line __Autograph trim__ level comes with the ProPilot Assist cruise control, a second-row nine-inch screen, and an in-car camera. 

There are also several extra packages you can add to the QX80. These include an Exterior Package that comes with a black bumper cover and roof cross bars for $1,030, an Interior Lighting Package for $1,020, and a Premium Cargo Package for $880 that comes with a cargo net, cargo blocks, and a console net to protect belongings.
