The 2000 Jeep Cherokee Limited is a fantastic vehicle in many ways. The look of the body is sharp, a "boxy" look I prefer to the newer "rounded" Jeep models. The interior is much in the same vein--a flat dash with simple features and few gizmos. However, the interior space is enormous because of the simple dash and center console. The seats are comfortable, but the ride is not, thanks to classic SUV suspension, and the backseat can be quite cramped for those of us with longer legs. The fuel efficiency of the vehicle is less than impressive, especially when using the air-conditioner in the Alabama summer months--at one point my MPG was around 12 for in-city driving. Overall, the car is fun to drive, has many advantages being a sports utility vehicle, and will last for years to come.
Pros
If you haven't owned a Jeep, you just cannot understand how fun they are to drive: the transmission loves to shift quickly, and throw power at the drive chain. The mid-sized SUV form factor allows you to feel "higher" than in a car, without it feeling like you are driving a tank. Off-roading and travelling on less-than-ideal roads is a piece of cake for this vehicle. The interior space is really quite nice, the leather seats are beautiful and durable, and the fold-able rear seat makes the trunk quite able to haul almost anything. From a repair standpoint, the parts for this model are relat... (more)
Cons
The only complaint from passengers I have received is the size of the backseat--for those with longer legs, it can be quite a challenge to get in and out of the car, because of the somewhat awkward positioning of the seat in regards to the rear doors. It is also a 'bench' style seat, which is somewhat uncomfortable. I have also noticed in my own and other Jeeps around the same year/model, that the adhesive on the fabric head liner appears to be inadequate or faulty, as the head liner lost hold and began to sag. The standard audio package is also pretty sub-par, but as with any car of this ... (more)
