I have had this Jeep since 2006, when it was purchased with around 50,000 miles on it. Nothing catastrophic has ever gone wrong with the vehicle and now it has 193,000 miles on it and I drive it roughly 50 miles a day to get to work and back home. The only thing I have ever had to replace are a few sensors, tires and all the other basic up keep with any vehicle you would typically expect. I love the overland trim because all of the engine internals are hardened from the factory for longevity along with an upgraded transfer case and axles. The award winning Quadra Drive all wheel drive system has never had me stuck in the winter or in the rain. Even with all season street tires this truck would get out of just about anything. Other than the few items that you would expect to go out in a... (more)
Story
Going off road and almost getting stuck numerous times, I also got muddy water inside the jeep at one point and still have the muddy water lines running through one of the speaker grills that I cannot reach to get out, this was almost 10 years ago!
Pros
There are a lot of pros to consider when talking about this vehicle. One of my favorite things is the all wheel drive system for these is amazing; not once have I had any issues off road with this vehicle and I have put it through some rough terrain over the course of its life. Another great thing about this vehicle is the simplicity of the drivetrain. I am a very good mechanic but most people would be able to service this vehicle quiet easily with a simple Haynes manual. In addition to the previously mentioned pros, I think the stylish interior and sunroof definitely go a long way, the wo... (more)
Cons
There aren't many bad things that I can say about this vehicle. Unfortunately, as of late, I have had to replace some smaller items such as a window regulator, alternator, and a small sensor here or there. My biggest gripe with this vehicle however is the fuel mileage. I average 16 MPG overall and I do mainly highway driving. If I have to do any amount of city driving I could literally watch the fuel gauge go down as I cruise around, part of this could be due to a faulty idle air control valve that has never been replaced and is notorious for failing on this particular model of Jeep. I've had my Jeep Grand Cherokee since 2011 and I don't plan to replace it anytime soon. It has been an excellent general-purpose vehicle, by which I mean it has been put to a wide variety of uses. For instance, I installed an after-market towing package and have used the car to pull my utility trailer for picking up yard supplies as well as to help ferry my stuff to my new house when I made a local move earlier this year. I have also done multiple long road trips (1000+ miles) and have found this JGC to be comfortable and highly reliable. The only things I don't like are really about the design of the thing when it comes to maintenance. For instance, the battery is located under the front passenger seat which makes it difficult to replace. Similarly, to replace the front driver-side in... (more)
Story
I drove to Lubbock from DFW to attend my son's graduation, pulling my (new at the time) utility trailer to move his stuff out of his apartment. We were driving very late - 2am approximately - and I almost ran out of gas because I underestimated how much the trailer would eat up my gas mileage. I was very glad of the amount of miles my Jeep traveled on an "empty" fuel tank. We made it to the ne... (more)
Pros
It is super comfortable even over long distances and accommodates pretty much any size driver (including me and I'm super short). Great ride and very easy to handle, even when towing a trailer. Also super reliable. I have never had any on-road failure with this car.
Cons
Not great on gas mileage - acceptable, but it is a 4x4. Also there are some design weirdness like the battery being under the front passenger seat. Additionally I wish it had LED headlights and more robust lens glass. Also replacing the alternator cost over $500 which was seriously not good.

I liked the fact that it was a no pressure sale. We drove the vehicle and the salesman sat in back seat. We went to other dealerships and the salesman actually drove the car so we were not impressed. We felt we had one on one help in negotiating the best possible loan. We were also given a coupon book for free oil changes. It was a very gratifying purchase.

Great service after the sale. I had a few warranty issues after a few months that might not have been a manufacture defect. I was surprised that i was not met with any resistance in getting them repaired under warranty.
