Jeep Patriot Owner Ratings & Reviews

2009 Jeep Patriot - Don't Stop Making the Jeep Patriot!
I bought the Jeep Patriot primarily for its AWD and mpg capabilities. It's a manual, and the only gripe I have about it is that at 70k miles a gear fork in the transmission was bent, so it would pop out of first gear on occasion while driving. Because it had a lifetime Powertrain warranty (another great thing when I bought it), the whole transmission was replaced. The engine has otherwise performed flawlessly. The seats are comfortable, and it's fantastic to have seats that fold completely down and evenly flat. The Patriot is extremely practical for those who have a varied lifestyle in regards to sports and everyday life. I'm able to carry a lot of cargo, and the Patriot is appealing to dog owners too because of the available space to accommodate pets. The Patriot has handled well in a... (more)
Story
I took my Patriot up to Black Lake in Idaho through some really varied and rough road conditions, and it did great. The road conditions varied from powder dust to heavy rocks and to near rock crawling-having to pick a route through the road to get through.
Pros
The fold-down seats. The gas mileage. The driving ease - and ease of parking. Small size SUV with "full-sized" clearance for off roading. This really has been one of the best vehicles I've ever owned. Great safety ratings. It's AFFORDABLE!
Cons
The transmission/gear fork being bent. Could use a little more oomph, but it's a four-cylinder. Has the perpetual Jeep "ghost-engine light on" problem. The center console doesn't stay closed when tipped up for access. It never has since brand new. It's not pretty or what anyone could call a good looking ride.
2016 Jeep Patriot - Very Basic
When I was test driving this car, one of the things that I really liked about it was that the back of the front seats are curved in so that adults have more space for their knees when sitting in the back seat. I also felt that the Jeep drove very smoothly. It also came with Sirius XM radio which was a huge plus. Some of the cons that we noticed right away was that it didn't have power windows and locks. Also, it doesn't have A/C. The car doesn't have anything high end.
Story
We have taken our Jeep up steep rocky hills and though it is not four-wheel drive, it was able to handle it great without getting stuck!
Pros
Sirius XM Radio, Manual Transmission, 30 MPG, and great visibility when changing lanes.
Cons
No A/C. It is a very basic car with limited special features, no power locks, and no power doors.
