When we first purchased the Jeep, it was based on the reputation of the company and the available four-wheel drive capabilities. Living in Wisconsin through the winter months made 4WD a must. Test driving the vehicle at the dealership proved to be just like any car. Comfortable fit, big enough for two car seats, and a trunk for the dog. Since I was looking to be cost effective, we went for more of a base model as to save money by avoiding additional bells and whistles that came with newer vehicles (navigation screen, etc.). Unfortunately, it seems as though the good times stop there.
Story
4WD got me out of a blizzard in northern Wisconsin. One and a half feet of snow had fallen, and I was able to get home no problem.
Pros
Ability to maneuver in a more rugged terrain. The capabilities of laying the back seats flat just in case I need to take the dog somewhere. Four-wheel drive.
Cons
The cruise control button does not always work. Sometimes I find myself needing to try and set the cruise control upwards a couple dozen times before it actually locks in place. Even then, it has a tendency to shut the cruise control off on a wild hair and without notice. The tire sensor in one of the four tires is faulty so even with all four tires filled according to the PSI listed on the sticker inside the door, the dashboard light still indicates low tire pressure. For how versatile the vehicle is designed to be, anyone over six foot cannot fit comfortably should there be passengers ne... (more)

The Jeep Patriot is an inexpensive compact SUV that's incredible in winter conditions when equipped with four-wheel drive. Perhaps my favorite feature is having a 2.4 liter four cylinder engine equipped with the four-wheel drive on a car frame. This allows me to go through conditions most normal cars and trucks struggle with, but maintaining good miles per gallon for fuel. It gets around 21-25 MPG on the road and highway, but still has enough power to tow around 1000 pounds easily. On the inside, I enjoy the clean appearance and easy to maintain materials used throughout the vehicle. The Latitude version comes equipped with heated cloth seats for the driver and passenger, so it helps keep me warm in the harsh winters. The Jeep also benefits from a remote starter, so I can heat it or co... (more)
Pros
-Drives great in snow -Heated seats and mirrors -Sunroof -Incredible nine speaker stereo -Good fuel mileage for a 4x4 -Quiet interior when driving -Cost me $18,000 new
Cons
-Some of the suspension parts were defective and replaced at 20,000 miles -Low pressure gauge on the tires is inaccurate -Interior sometimes fogs up easily in the rear seats -Not a lot of options for seating adjustments in the rear seats
