1997 Jeep Wrangler - It's a Jeep thing
I've loved the look and freedom associated with the Jeep Wrangler brand since I was in middle school. I promised myself I'd get one and pay for it on my own if I would ever have the means to do so. Before I turned 21 I purchased one through a local dealer and never regretted it 13 years later. After the novelty wears off of being able to transform the vehicle and customize it a million different ways to your liking, I realized it became part of my personality and an extension of who I was. In my family and social circles, I am synonymous with that Jeep. I've only hand a handful of things needing fixed outside of the routine maintenance. Underbody rust is a known cause of concern for every Jeep, so I have done the measures to help combat that prior to any problem occurring. The factory ... (more)
Story
I used to spend summer nights in Indiana getting lost in the country riding around listening to Red Hot Chili Peppers in that Jeep. It always makes me smile when a RHCP song comes on when I'm driving.
Pros
I love the freedom to transform the vehicle into a doorless convertible and the many options for customization. I like the community feeling and the Jeep wave. There are lots of help forums available. I like the four-wheel drive and how it's engineered for easy fixes. It is durable and has a long-lasting engine. It also looks cool.
Cons
Wind noise - top vibration, frame rusts without proper pre-maintenance, low mpg ratings, and it's difficult to put a child in a car seat in the back. I don't like how people love to cut the soft top windows even though they can easily be unzipped just to gain access to a $20 radio.
1998 Jeep Wrangler - I like it.
I love the fact that I have a Jeep Wrangler. I love the fact that on a summer day I can pull the doors off and the top down and enjoy the breeze. I like the fact that I have the option to go off roading but also have a decent drive on a blacktop. One of the things I dislike about it is that it gets horrible MPG. Although it is nice to have a "convertible," it can be hard to take the top down if the weather is on the cooler side.
Story
My most fun memories came from going mudding with my friends or taking our Jeeps through the mountains.
Pros
One of the top positives of having a Jeep is, honestly, some people see it as a "status symbol." I don't see it as being fancy. To me, having a Jeep Wrangler shows my love for the outdoors. I love the fact that it is customized to how I want it. Unless they are stock, it's really hard to find two Jeeps that are identical. Since Wranglers are common vehicles, it is easy to get parts for them.
Cons
The top negative of having a Wrangler would definitely be the horrible MPG. I average about 10 MPG since I do a lot of urban backroad driving. It is hard to take the top off if the fabric is not stretched.
