Lincoln Aviator Owner Ratings & Reviews

2005 Lincoln Aviator - Comfortable and Classy
This vehicle is fun to drive, is very comfortable. One of my favorite features of this vehicle is the steering wheel- mounted controls for the audio system, A/C, etc. I also like the second-row captain's chairs with the roomy console and the heated and cooled seats. The Aviator has a generous cargo capacity with the third-row seats folded flat into the floor. It always felt very stable on the highways for a big vehicle. I can't think of any negatives except maybe because of gas prices, it was expensive to drive and not terribly economical on gas. The comfort and ride is what you would expect in a Lincoln.
Story
Well, we took the Aviator, loaded down to the local river and went canoeing all day long. It held enough stuff for all of our friends and their belongings and what a fun time it was. The best part of this vehicle whereas our friends have tiny, economical cars, we get to see them more often. We have them drive to our house and then we all go on different adventures every weekend. So, the ot... (more)
Pros
I bought this car with low mileage for a very good price. I was impressed by the comfort and smoothness which I liked quite a lot) but was surprised by the performance. Passing cars is fun again! So much so that I'm willing to spring for the premium fuel without complaining. It's also extremely quiet inside and if on my cell phone no one knows that I'm even out in my vehicle. Also, love it in the winter or when a cold snap occurs. The seats warm up and it's such a cozy, comfortable ride. The same is true when it's scorching hot outside. You can cool the seats and it makes for a comfor... (more)
Cons
There is a known brake issue with this vehicle. My friend thought she was going crazy, because she would try to describe the grinding sound, the abs brake light appearing and the lack of brake control to my mechanic and after checking vehicle several times, he could find nothing. It has never happened while I was riding with my friend and I never thought that she was making up this story. They always say to bring it in when it's happening, but it's so sporadic, it's hard to do that. I fear that she will get into an accident with her kids in the car, but I am not quite sure what to tell he... (more)
2003 Lincoln Aviator - Aviator, low MPG but very reliable
It's a great truck they don't make any longer. Very comfortable and tons of options were standard. I'd go with a low mileage one, and they still are available today.
Story
Best fun was driving in bad weather and taking speed bumps without taking a beating on them. In a hot climate, get the one with dual air conditioners. Long trips are a breeze.
Pros
It's very safe, one woman I know rolled over five times with her 5 year old in it and they both walked away. The state trooper saw what happened and advised her to get another one.
Cons
It's got enough power, but never got more than 11mpg with it, even on the highway. Also if you don't have the back gate closed right it cracks the plastic back door panel from the movement. Also when the interior console fell because the clasps wore out, they wouldn't honor the bumper to bumper warranty on interior parts.
