I bought this vehicle for my son to use to learn to drive in, but I ended up being a bigger of fan of it than he did! As someone who owns a few different German vehicles, I have never really been huge on Mercedes, especially older ones like this. Boy. was I wrong! This is a fun car that drives fast and is extremely comfortable.
Story
I drove this car all the way from where I live in the Bay Area down to Southern California. It was a fun and fast drive, and the car gave me no problems at all. I loved that it felt as reliable as any brand new vehicle. It was memorable because it was my first trip, and I was helping a long-time friend move. My trunk space came in handy.
Pros
It is very comfortable and is built like a tank. It is solid in its handling and construction and overall feel. The suspension is nice and solid as it sticks to the road but also gives the comfort you would expect from a Sedan of this type.
Cons
My biggest con is the gas mileage, as I am probably getting somewhere around 16 mpg, but this is likely due to its age and needing a solid tune-up. I plan to do this soon, and I am sure it will improve a bit.

This is one of the best large sedans on the market. The build quality is exceptional, there are no "tinny" components, the car is solid as a tank, no rattles or strange vibrations, no loose feeling handling characteristics. It is plain solid. However, it is the smaller displacement V8 that most defines this car. The engine is a leap forward for its time. It has an even power band delivering generous power and feels like an extension of the driver. This is an excellent car, with only a few criticisms, mostly related to the fact it is large and heavy.
Story
It is a rather non-descript car, it doesn't turn heads because it is common. That said, almost everyone who takes a putt in it remarks on the car. They admire it, say positive things about it after riding awhile and even go so far as to say they want one. Of course, the superb sound system helps. It is almost 30 years old and still takes its place as a very, very comfortable executive ride, ac... (more)
Pros
Oh, that engine! It sits in the bay like a jewel. It is a masterful piece of work, aluminum block and heads with ridiculously precise calibration of component fitment, two ignition systems (aircraft style), advanced (for 1998) fuel injection and is engineered to be powerful but noninvasive, reliable to a fault and smooth as a polished diamond. It is dropped into a handsome chassis that could be used for a Panzer. It is almost as if the car were hand sculpted from a solid piece. It is the epitome of the Mercedes brand. Overall fit and finish are excellent.
Cons
Handling? Well, not so much. It is a front engine, rear wheel drive machine made for touring mostly, not for the windy road. It is better handling than most of the huge Detroit steel of yore, for sure, but does not pretend to be a performance car in the more modern era. I will give it this: the tight turning radius is remarkable. Another issue, endemic to both Mercedes and BMW and a consistent occurrence with this model, are electrical problems. When it is older, this E430 might just decide not to light the instrument panel at night. Or might feel obliged to automatically lock you out of t... (more)

I had a great experience at this dealership. The facility is huge, bright, clean and new. My sales rep, Jack was friendly and not your typical "salesman". He was up front and honest with me and was able to get me a great deal. The wait time to get the car detailed was longer than expected, but I was able to enjoy coffee, bottled water and cookies while I waited. Oh and they play house music, huge bonus! I've referred my co-workers and friends here and will be a customer for life.

The service was very good, for they were friendly, and very patient with their customers. They are willing to answer any question we may have. They are the best used car dealership in manteca in my opinion. I had absolutely no problems with them, and the owner is extremely honest and straight forward with you. He wants to make sure you walk out the door satisfied with your purchase of the car. Great dealership overall.
