My 1992 Mercury Grand Marquis was one of the smoothest rides I've ever owned, but its age was starting to show. While it had power seats, a digital display, and JBL speakers, the gas mileage and the upkeep were just too much to handle, and I had to let it go. If I had the chance to purchase another one with low mileage, I'd go for it, but I would be wary of aging parts. I have to say, though, that I was glad to have a luxury car like this despite its age. Every time I slid into the leather seats, I felt like I was king of the road. I'm a big fan of the Ford Panther platform, and this car evoked the feelings of the North American land yachts of the '60s and '70s. Only the finest Canadian engineering went into this car. The trunk could fit just about anything and then some, and the 4.6L ... (more)
Story
I took this car up and down the highest mountains in the Appalachian with ease. The power behind it could carry me up the highest grades with ease. I was passing cars left and right. I felt like the king of the mountain.
Pros
Luxurious. JBL audio, leather seats, power seats and windows, digital display screen, and a big V8 4.6L engine.
Cons
Lots of upkeep. Some parts had a tendency to die faster than others. It was a boat to handle.

The Mercury Grand Marquis is a great family car to get around town in with its plentiful compartment space. Shocks and struts are very smooth and bumps are basically no problem. Rims come with the Standard Mercury Logo on all four of them, and the tires are a standard 17 inches usually rated for about 100 miles per an hour or so. The engine is amazing as all 1997 Grand Marquis come standard with a three-liter v8, which makes getting up to speed no problem, though the vehicle is certainly not a sports car. The sound system is great, and the car is very dependable and never breaks.
Story
Even when you're stuck in traffic, the A/C feels great, and it keeps the music playing. Sitting in the seats are no problem, as they extremely conformable, and chair dancing while stuck in a traffic is absolutely great.
Pros
Lots of room, plenty of horse power, and cruise control is great to avoid getting a speeding ticket. The sound system sounds good with the original speakers, so upgrades are not required.
Cons
Had to replace the upper intake manifold once. It cost me 950 dollars. Ford makes them out of plastic and sets them next to a metal surface, causing them to wear out every five to eight years.

The truck had great miles and the guy who helped us worked well with the price. We took it for a test drive, and it was great.
