Just alright
The 2006 Nissan Frontier XE is a very basic, simple truck with which you get what you pay for. For the most part it is a decent vehicle, but my experience has been that it has repeated mechanical issues, especially with overheating, as it nears the 100,000 mile mark, despite following all of the manufacturer's suggestions for recommended maintenance. The flywheel also went out after just 60,000 miles on my vehicle and I have had issues with the starter. In regards to the overheating issue, the Nissan mechanics have not been able to determine exactly what is causing it other than adding coolant seems to temporarily fix the issue for a few weeks at a time. As a four-cylinder, manual transmission, it isn't going to give you a ton of power, but it is sufficient for every day driving. Much of the inside is made of hard plastic and looks fairly cheap. Another issue is that it seems to have the turning radius of a small cruise ship. On the positive side, it cost just over $15,000 and gets decent gas mileage at 19 mpg city/23 mpg highway. It also includes power windows, power locks, cruise control, a two-level glove compartment and a CD player.
