2009 Smart fortwo - Cute little gas saver
This tiny car gets decent fuel mileage, has a good appearance, and is great for a single person or when without your kids. It only fits two people so no major shopping trips, but it does hold a good amount of groceries. I like the automatic transmission. It's not a speedy kind of car, but can slowly get up to faster speeds. Following the speed limits are best.
Story
There aren't many around where I live so it attracts stares. I can't really pin point a specific thing...but I get some stares, and frequently someone will ask questions about it or ask if they can look at the interior.
Pros
Economical on gas
Nice summer car.
Cute.
Can turn on a dime.
Squeeze into smaller parking spots.
Cons
Very small, fits only two (but that can be a plus, too).
The gas mileage isn't quite as good as you would expect for such a tiny car (37/47).
You can't manually lock the car... can only be done by the remote, and only if all doors are shut. (That is likely a safety feature to avoid locking keys in the car).
On this topic, opening the back hatch can only be done from the remote also... no buttons inside to press.
Not a good winter car... I would not feel very safe in it.
2014 Smart fortwo - Smart Car, smart buy
I love my Smart car. I am a larger guy, and unlike most think, it fits me fine. I has plenty of power and get great gas mileage. Outside of that, most everyone stops to see my car when I am at a light.
Story
When driving this car, it can make a U-turn in around 22 feet. Which comes in handy if you have made an incorrect turn.
Pros
And as far as driving, it is just fun. I have owned it for four months now and still love it.
Cons
The cons are, of course, it is small and does not have a back seat. But it does have a hatch with enough room to go shopping.
