2003 Subaru Forester - The Original Crossover
The Subaru Forester is one of the original crossovers, and in my opinion the best of them all.
I have the Premium model which includes paint matched trim, rear spoiler, factory mud flaps and alloy wheels giving it a nice look.
The Premium model also includes one of the largest moon roof's I've ever seen. The moon roof stretches back over the rear seats, giving the rear passengers the same experience as the front passengers.
The interior is well designed and thought out to be the most utilitarian car interior out there. It has storage pockets and compartments located all over from front to back. There are three power outlets, one even in the rear cargo area. I have had compliments on the comfort of the seats, which are extremely comfortable especially on long trips. Speaking of cargo, ... 2013 Subaru Forester - Good, compact crossover.
My vehicle is a leader in the compact crossover/SUV market. It is small and gets good gas mileage and although small, makes efficient use of space. It is surprisingly roomy inside. It is rated as highly dependable, and although most would not describe it as luxurious, it is more on the practical side.
Story
I took it on a 4,800 mile trip from Florida to Arizona with my dog and friend last year. We made memories that will last a lifetime.
Pros
Great gas mileage. Surprising cargo capacity for a compact, crossover vehicle. Good room for bigger passengers. Excellent safety rating from various ratings agencies. Low cost of ownership. Lower than expected insurance rates. Dependable and reliable vehicle per various studies. Comfortable driving position for short drivers/able to get a good view of the road. Great visibility all around, especially when backing up. Short turning radius. It offers a manual transmission for those who like that.
Cons
Some would say that the interior finishes are cheap. There have been limited problems with my vehicle, but when they do come up, Subaru tries to avoid recalls. Instead, they wait until a class action lawsuit is filed against them. Certain years of Foresters have experienced excessive oil consumption, and from what I have read, some owners are having a hard time getting this resolved with Subaru.
