I liked that my vehicle could fit anything within it - that I could put the backseats down and put furniture in it or my kayak, it did not matter what size. I also liked how simple everything was - from the dashboard to the automatic shift. My Subaru Legacy performed well in the city, going from point A to point B. Changing the oil myself was not that difficult to do and the engine was not that hard to work on. For the most part, the car was very reliable. I did have a four cylinder which did not have the most power to go up large hills and accelerate quickly on the highway. The person who owned it before me did not perform routine maintenance and this created a problem for myself when I acquired the car. However, the car did excellent in snow and poor weather because it was four wheel... (more)
Story
Yes, I have gone on lots of great road trips in this car. And jammed to some good music. It was my first car that I changed the oil in!
Pros
My favorite qualities of this car were the average or decent gas mileage for the size of the car. I enjoyed the size of the car and how I could transport just about anything with ease as during the time when I owned the car, I was a very mobile person. I enjoyed the look of the car- and how "outdoorsy" but also "sexy" the car can look. Additionally, I enjoyed its reliability. By keeping up with oil changes and routine work, I had hardly any issues with the car and enjoyed the benefits of owning a Subaru that was well made. I also liked the simplicity of the interior design - from the dashb... (more)
Cons
The top negative things regarding my vehicle were the lack of horsepower in the engine. I did not appreciate when I would be travelling a longer distance, and struggle to accelerate on the highway. My used car did have a fair amount of mileage on it that accrued, but this angered me sometimes. After taking good care of the car, the alternator did go out on the car. This was a rather expensive and time-consuming expense that I did not enjoy. I wish the person before would have taken better care of the car. Otherwise, the car did sit low to the ground and this did annoy me at some points whi... (more)

We bought the car used, and so it is 20 years old already. We really just needed to buy something fast to get to and from work, but we ended up being surprised by how long its lasted and how dependable it is. The look is retro to say the least, but for a college student, it works well, and there is a lot of seating room and trunk room, which is really handy. The car itself was very rusty when we got it, and has continued to rust faster and faster. The car really maneuvers well for its size. The gas mileage is average. Not as great as a newer car, but better than our old mini van! The breaks are a little more worn than I prefer, but work just fine. At this point, the greatest problem is simply the muffler. The car makes a lot of noise. Otherwise, with a battery replacement, the ride is ... (more)
Story
The car is great for road trips, because it looks so old fashioned and holds so much stuff and people.
Pros
To me, the best part is the retro look. It doesn't exactly look professional, but it is fun. The car drives very smooth, and does just fine on the highway. The acceleration is also great, and I don't feel at all unsafe around the bigger, newer cars. The Subaru also is easy to park. Because there is so much space in car, it is really comfortable. I always have room for my things when I'm moving (the trunk is huge!), and for four passengers to be comfortable. The seats are really comfortable. The radio and speakers still work pretty well as well, as do all other buttons and controls, and hea... (more)
Cons
The biggest problem with the vehicle is just it's age. There is only one manufacturing issue that I do not like, and that is the cup holders in the front seat, which block the controls for heating and radio if they are out. Because the car is old, it's appearance, while endearing, is somewhat embarrassing when I want to look professional. The noise it makes (because of the muffler) is also a little embarrassing, because it fairly obvious when I come in. The brakes, while working fine, are not quite as smooth as my family's newer car, but that sort of wear and tear is expected.
