The Subaru legacy is an interesting car. You've probably never owned something like it. the engine is a boxer engine and not many engines are like this. this means the pistons are moving horizontally rather than vertically. This unique design will reduce vibration and give you something interesting to work on if you are an auto nut. I loved this car from top to bottom. I only wish it had a manual transmission. It had FWD which I hear is rare for Subaru's. Most are AWD. I consider this a positive because this means less things can go wrong. There was tons of cargo space since it was a wagon. You could comfortably camp in it or haul branches and a lawn mower if you are in to that sort of thing. While the boxer engine may be interesting to some it could also be seen as a negat... (more)
Story
I drove this vehicle half way across the country once and never had a problem. I thought many a times it would die but it just kept on going.
Pros
These cars are very reliable. during the entire life of the car I had little to no problems and it hardly ever left me stranded on the side of the road. It came with a very sturdy jack and spare tire. The rear seats could be folded down which would maximize your cargo capacity. I never took it off road but I hear the AWD models handle very well off road. I always got really good gas mileage. I rarely had to fill up and when I did the bill was very small. This is a great car for green people and the next best thing would be to put a hybrid engine or better yet an all electric engine ... (more)
Cons
There are very few cons to the Subaru legacy. but as I mentioned above the engine is almost too unique. Also if you get an AWD model there is more to maintain such as the rear differential fluid. also later model vehicles of the Subaru legacy were interference engines which means you would have to make sure and change the timing mechanism before it breaks. if you don't then the repair bill could skyrocket. The engine also is rather large compared to other compact cars such as the Honda civic. the civic I believe was around 1.5l to 1.6l which would make it easier to work on. Also sin... (more)

Customer service. The sale person was very helpful and accommodating starting from my first e-mail. He was very patient and listened to my needs. He showed around the dealership and of course, the latest Forester models. We test drove it and liked it. He was not pushy and not trying to make me buy any extra accessories. He even suggested not to go for a particular expensive add on. They appraised my old car on the spot and took it in for a fair value. It took only about an hour to get delivery of my new 2015 Forester.

The salesman was helpful and didn't try to pressure me into buying anything. He was willing to negotiate the price which was nice. The dealership was clean and easy to find. The paperwork wasn't stressful, and again, I didn't feel pressured. Overall a decent experience.
