Great for its age.
I have an 18-year-old Subaru Outback. It is far from perfect, but for such an old car, it does amazing! I have had very few issues with it, and the ones that I have had are either easy fixes or not real issues. I can start to feel the transmission slip, but again, it's almost 20 years old. I drive this car daily and has 200,000 miles on it, and the only issue I've had was that a hose started leaking ($100 fix). I enjoy having an affordable car that I don't have to worry about having issues with. One of my biggest complaints is that there is no gas light. I didn't realize that at first. My husband had told me there was one, so if you are like me and let your gas get pretty low before you fill up, that could be an issue. I had one instance where the car actually shut off while I was driving because I ran out of gas—oops! The air conditioning can also be a bit finicky, which sucks in the south in the summer. Some days it works great, others you can hear it blowing but not feel air. The drivers window is slow to go up sometimes. The back door stick and will not open. All these things are minor though, and since I got the car for such a great price, they're not a big deal to put up with. I only drive 20 miles or less in a trip. If I have longer distances to go, I may have more complaints, but as a car to tinker around in, it's great.
