Subaru Outback Owner Ratings & Reviews

2012 Subaru Outback - This is the best car I've ever owned
It is a great crossover vehicle. It performs wonderfully in the city or while pursuing your outdoor enthusiast dreams. Furthermore, we are extremely happy with the city gas mileage and it fits well for our backpacking needs in the woods. This vehicle cleans up well after its been truckin' around in the mud. However, we do not like there is not any good attachment points in the back or under both sides of the hood to secure our canoe.
Story
My son and his girlfriend took this vehicle up to the Boundary Waters Canoe area this year. Not only did they save money on gas, they were able to haul one canoe and 150 lbs of gear and supplies.
Pros
The gas-mileage cannot be beat. In addition, the overall value of the vehicle in functionality and style is worth the value of this car. It can haul all you need, including yourself for overnight camping ventures. We have also extremely enjoyed the installed seat warmers during our Minnesota winters.
Cons
Our complaints are minor with this vehicle although the seats are very comfortable and roomy for the passengers but not at all for the driver. This can become a major pain when driving for several hours.
2006 Subaru Outback - Owning a used Subaru Outback.
Owning this vehicle for the past few years has been very enjoyable. I opted for the larger engine in the lineup because I like having that extra power for the freeway. The car rides nicely and has required very little maintenance other that typically wear parts that you would need to replace on any other used car. Overall I would fro sure buy this car again because I know that these cars are built to last and will always be ready to go as long as you keep up your end of the bargain with basic maintenance.
Story
I go camping in it and use the back for a bed if there is any chance of a ton of snow or rain coming.
Pros
Some of the pros of buying the 3.0 Subaru outback is that you get the larger engine which has more power. This engine also does not have a timing belt and instead has a chain so that is an expensive piece you don't have to replace. This engine also doesn't have the head gasket problems that the smaller engines have which is really expensive to fix and could possibly ruin you entire engine if allowed to continue driving after failure.
Cons
There are just a few cons with all of the Outbacks of this era and that is the suspension has to be fine tuned to get it to ride comfortably and safely when driving at high speeds. The 3.0 engine requires premium which can get expensive fast.
